@third, I suspect that the questions were voted down because it was perceived that they weren't questions being asked honestly and with an open-mind, but as attempts to push a religious view. Perhaps accepting some of the highly-voted answers (e.g. skeptics.stackexchange.com/questions/2929/…) would counter that view?

@ThirdIdiot They actually become different kinds of bacteria, virii, crickets etc. Even if I showed you some real world examples of speciation, what would you prevent you from saying "hey they are still birds", and even if I showed you examples of intermediates between classes, what would prevent you from asking "hey they are still animals", and so on, and so on.
