@user104372 I can't imagine why it matters, but no. I never use the royal we. I am speaking on behalf of the moderators and officially warning you not to make such posts.

@DavidZ, that post is rather articulate, what is wrong with it? There are some facts, which can't be inappropriate, and an educated guess, shared by tgp. Can people express their mind in a chat? What rule/policy do such posts violate?
11:35
Your assumption that more 50% of the site membership couldn't find a palatable candidate is inappropriate. If you consider that a fact, then yes, facts (by your definition) can be inappropriate, although I would suggest that's not a very useful definition of "fact".

@DavidZ, before you issue an official warning, please read carefully: 1255 got the Caucus , 480 the Constituent badge, so less than 50% of members aware of the elections decided to cast a vote. That is a hard fact (at that time, but that ratio is still valid at present, and will remain till the end) The most likely reason is that they did not find any candidate they could vote, as tpg acknowledged.
user128101
Also I said that most voters (480) had already voted at the time of the debate: that, too, is a hard fact. I also said that total voters would hardly be over 600 , and that hypothesis has been confirmed, so far.
user128101
If it will, considering that there are 3 real candidates, that will mean that the (second) elected mod will not receive a lot more than 200 votes, so 200 people will decide the fate of the site. That the election was called with a mere 20-day notice is a hard fact, too, and that means that members who will not, for any reason visit the site, are excluded from the election.
user128101
But that is not the point, David: even if I made a wrong calculation or assumption , so what ? we are in a chat-room , I would expressed a wrong guess or judgement, so what? What is the problem, why keep picking on me?
user128101

Lastly, since words do have a meaning, if at the end of the election the ratio of actual voters will be over 50%, my guess will be inexact, inaccurate,... but never inappropriate. I should say that this comment: ....but, remarkably, we didn't even lose power here! is surely more inappropriate
user128101
what/whose power is that talking about?
@user104372 Again, the problematic statement is your assumption that the most likely reason these people didn't vote is that they didn't find any candidate they would be willing to vote for. That is unfounded speculation, and it falls afoul of our "be nice" policy.
Sure, you've given a detailed justification of quantitative statements you made, but those quantitative statements were never the problem.
user128101
@DavidZ, The problematic statemnet was made by tgp, too,Why do you pick me?
user128101
Are there more plausible reasons why one goes to the polling station and does not cast a vote?
@user104372 OK, if you really want to get into it: you are wrong. tpg2114 did not agree with that statement; in fact, he explicitly argued against it.
13:07
@user104372 A catastrophic hurricane has been hitting the Caribbean and the American south. Alfred was in the way. There was the chance for widespread loss of life. He ended up getting through it fine, though it's going to loop around. (For more information see here: nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/graphics_at4+shtml/115544.shtml?5-daynl.)
It was unrelated to the election.
user128101
@DavidZ, you should read more carefully,David: " It's better to not vote than to elect somebody who will do damage " is tantamount to say that they did not find a palatable/likeabel/votable candidate

@user104372 no, it's not
user128101
well, that is your opinion, and you are entitled to it, like anyone else to his own
user128101
What has be nice and an official warning got to do with that?
user128101
My opinion is that half voters did not find a suitable candidate, and did not cast a vote, so what?
13:19
So you should not express the opinion that half of the voters did not find a suitable candidate in our chat (or on the main site).
user128101
Why tgp can express his and I can't mine, do you realize that?
user128101
can I say they did not vote because it's better not to vote than vote for someone that can do damage?
@user104372 Because yours is unfounded speculation, and his is not.
@user104372 no, you cannot.
