I've wondered similar things about most of the programmes my kids watch. "Paw Patrol" = "team of genetically-enhanced cyborg dogs", etc. And my wife and I came to the conclusion a long time ago that Fireman Sam takes place in a postapocalyptic setting with about six survivors where nothing exists outside Pontypandy.
