5:56 AM
Can someone give me a pointer on the Accessiblity workshop event?

6:28 AM
@Johannes_B I've scheduled it here to match the planned physical event in Rio: we have arranged a workshop there
@Johannes_B The plan in Rio is to talk about what needs to be done to better support accessibility, for example does the LaTeX kernel need 'tagging hooks'
@Johannes_B I hope it will be useful to invite contributions from here too

7:22 AM
@JosephWright Thank you. I hit the notification button on the youtube live stream.

1 hour later…
8:23 AM
Just ordered a USB-C to HDMI converter for TUG2018: @DavidCarlisle will be pleased to hear I'll also have it in the 'dungeon' later in the year!

1 hour later…
9:25 AM
Brazilian Real on order

@JosephWright Is it rational, or algebraic at the least?

@HaraldHanche-Olsen :)
@HaraldHanche-Olsen Ask @PauloCereda

@JosephWright I think you just did.

1 hour later…
10:31 AM
@JosephWright it's... surreal. :)

@PauloCereda also unnecessary as he could just have used your card

@DavidCarlisle oh no

3 and a half hours til game time pal

11:08 AM
Working on my TUG2018 slides in the garden :)

11:22 AM
@JosephWright Gadda da vida?

1 hour later…
12:27 PM
@PauloCereda Ducks fly better than iron butterflies; -)

1:13 PM
@UlrikeFischer :)

1 hour later…
2:22 PM
@UlrikeFischer Are you sure? ;-)

2 hours later…
4:06 PM
is there something like \tracingdimen?

@Maïeul \tracingassigns=1?

ah!
it is etex
yeah
it should be
I have a bug with calc
it seems the value of some of my parameters are not good
I don't know

4:29 PM
hum

4:58 PM
France won WC2018

I have found a bug on calc.sty

@naphaneal is that competition still going on? I thought it finished last Wednesday?

must I report on github.com/latex3/latex2e or on other repository?

@Maïeul yes calc is in tools

@DavidCarlisle the final game was today. FRA:CRO 4:2

5:01 PM
so latex2e repository?

@naphaneal you must be mistaken it was the tennis final today:-)
@Maïeul yes you can see the file is here github.com/latex3/latex2e/blob/master/required/tools/calc.dtx

@Maïeul sorry, user error not a bug:-)

ok, but let me though that is break older pratice
bad practice, indeed, but pratcice indeed
and also the handbook Tell
"The \setcounter and \addtocounter commands have global effect, while the
\setlength and \addtolength commands obey the normal scoping rules."
and normalscoping rule includ use of global

5:14 PM
@Maïeul no, \global is not a latex command.

I didn't tell that

@Maïeul you can't expect to use tex primitives in arbitrary places and have them apply to latex-defined user level macros.

ok
I understand
but at least, maybe add a a note in the handboojk

@Maïeul "handbook" ? by the way the calc documentation does mention another non-supported form that it makes work:
\RequirePackage{latexbug}
\documentclass{article}
\usepackage{calc}
\begin{document}
\newlength{\toto}
\begingroup
\setlength{\global\toto}{2pt}
\endgroup
\the\toto
\end{document}

handbook=documentaion in my head

5:20 PM
@Maïeul you mean the calc package documentation? as I say that mentions the above (but that's not good latex syntax either)

Ok
I don't find it, but that does not matter
I will use tex syntax
but I maintain that is problematic to have a change in standard (unvoluntary) behavior

@Maïeul well calc hasn't changed since 1990 or so. It changes the behavour to allow arithemetic so you can't argue that it should not change behaviour. It would be just about impossible to implement the syntax \global\setlength even if you wanted to implement that.

ok

2 hours later…
7:54 PM
@AlanMunn amazing!! I think the last "GOAL" was from Rodolfo de Paoli (Argentinean ;-))

yo'
8:21 PM
Correction: The diploma took 2.5 years, and not 1.5 years.
@JosephWright ^^

9:00 PM
@yo' we have once again met the local Československy vlčák. It is now 12 weeks old, has grown somewhat and has been given the name of „Ivanhoe“. vvvvv
