@UlrikeFischer YAY!

@CarLaTeX Sorry for the late reply. I was doing offline stuff :). I don't think your screenshot is necessary. Thanks for the offering of helo though.

@Dr.ManuelKuehner You're welcome! Having the same problem, I'm interested in the solution :):):)

To moderators: Please remove superfluous comments in tex.meta.stackexchange.com/questions/7711/… which answer to my (already removed) comments. Standing alone, most comments addressing me there make zero sense. I flagged them already.

hmmm carrot cake

@PauloCereda when I make carrot cake ("Rüblitorte") I put small marzipan rabbits on it.

@UlrikeFischer ooh
@Skillmon ^^ rabbits!

@PauloCereda Hello, Mr. Duck!

@MdAyquassar as someone already commented it is fairly annoying if someone removes half a conversation.

2:04 PM
@DavidCarlisle Sorry; my removal is unrelated to you or any of the writers. I apologize a lot for that.

@egreg ^^ :)

@PauloCereda That should appear on the screens in the train!

@egreg :)

@DavidCarlisle -- i see that you've already posted an answer to this question. but do you think a warning in the documentation, something like "content must be provided", might be useful? (even if only to point to in situations like this.)

3:36 PM
@barbarabeeton I'd say so. The empty matrix is not really very useful, but there are situations where it's convenient to speak about it.

@egreg -- would you like me to propose wording for an update to amsldoc?

@barbarabeeton By the way, the determinant of the empty matrix is 1. ;-)
@barbarabeeton Caveat. The implementation of ?matrix (where ? is nothing or one of the letters above) has the consequence that empty contents of the environment produces funny output. So if you want to typeset the empty pmatrix, use \begin{pmatrix}\relax\end{pmatrix}.

@barbarabeeton @egreg I might be able to fix it in amsmath, but matrix is such a thin wrapper around array and can't even assume the array package extensions are available so detecting an empty array is a bit tricky (unless I go to the expense of boxing the halign and looking at the box width)

@DavidCarlisle -- repeat question ... would you like me to propose wording for an update to amsldoc?

@barbarabeeton well if I do nothing @egreg's wording is fine, but if I do something and empty matrices just work then there is no need to say anything. But currently I do not know which is the case...

@StefanKottwitz thanks for texfaq help:-)

@DavidCarlisle No problem. In the evening I will not be available (nightly maintenance on a ship)
@DavidCarlisle you may need to flush your local DNS cache too
From my server it's already ok:
root@tex ~ # ping texfaq.org
PING texfaq.org (185.199.109.153) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 185.199.109.153: icmp_req=1 ttl=58 time=14.8 ms
64 bytes from 185.199.109.153: icmp_req=2 ttl=58 time=14.8 ms
64 bytes from 185.199.109.153: icmp_req=3 ttl=58 time=14.8 ms
^C
--- texfaq.org ping statistics ---
3 packets transmitted, 3 received, 0% packet loss, time 2002ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 14.841/14.856/14.870/0.141 ms
The DNS entry is not on my server but at the provider, so my server has to query it too. So looks good.
wget texfaq.org gives me some Jekyll stuff, the FAQ index, so it works from that point of view

4:43 PM
@StefanKottwitz looks good, doesn't work here yet and the github pages setting page is saying Domain does not resolve to the GitHub Pages server. For more information but I'll give it a bit longer.
@StefanKottwitz yeh it works thanks: texfaq.org
@JosephWright ^^^^

@DavidCarlisle Not here just yet, but I expect it shortly
@DavidCarlisle, @egreg So we have e-type expansion: just need to get XeTeX to catch up ...

5:16 PM
@DavidCarlisle Working now: thanks @StefanKottwitz

5:39 PM
@DavidCarlisle doesn't work for me ;-(: "texfaq.github.io hat Sie zu oft weitergeleitet." ("too many redirects")

@UlrikeFischer Same here on one system but not another: various caches have to flush, I think

@UlrikeFischer you get that until your dns resolves texfaq.org dns name to the github server rather than the old one (it loops until the update propogates)

6:17 PM
basically it just means it's not my fault :-) — David Carlisle 1 min ago

@carlatex A red Italian car winning the Grand Prix - this must be due to your new avatar!

8:00 PM
@samcarter Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@samcarter Surely they stole some ideas.

yesterday, by CarLaTeX
@DavidCarlisle It's only temporary, they will win again sooner or later :):):)
@DavidCarlisle ^^^
@egreg I should have done some ducks with the Italian national team shirt before the match against Sweden!

8:27 PM
@egreg I wish they would also steal the nice design of @CarLaTeX car - I don't like this very low front section of the last couple of years.

3 hours later…
11:50 PM
@samcarter Oh yes, I am also looking forward to seeing the headline "Grand prix won by a duck" ;-)
