@StefanKottwitz Fortunately, I've already bought it with a gift card (hence, for free) hahaha. BTW, I didn't forget the list of typos I promised you. Trust me, sooner or later I'll send it to you :):):)
@AlanMunn Bound in gold hahaha

@JonasStein What do you mean by stretching of pdf in texmaker...
@JonasStein If there is an error in bibtex definitely latexmk breaks the automatic re-run cycles, you might need a forced run with latexmk -f option
Just check running bibtex it would show were are those errors and for a error free bib file automatic re-runs perform properly
@JonasStein yes seems strange, do you have a MWE that i could test?

9:04 AM
@barbarabeeton Looking at tug.org/mailman/listinfo/edutex and the link below about edutex (tug.org/edutex) i get a 404. If you see the same, would you mind forwarding to the person in charge?

@texenthusiast I mean this with stretching tex.stackexchange.com/questions/154610/…

9:26 AM
@barbarabeeton Referring to edutex: en.wikibooks.org/wiki/…

Quack!

@PauloCereda QUACK!

@Johannes_B ooh hi mr. penguin!

@PauloCereda Señor pato :-)

@Johannes_B Señor penguino. :)

@PauloCereda How are you? How is the shacky bus?

10:20 AM
@Johannes_B In a hurry as always, but fine. :) I got three weeks free of shaky buses. :) And you, how are things?

@PauloCereda The usual, listening to Shakira songs :)

@Johannes_B :D

@PauloCereda Did you see the latest songs by Kesha? very powerful

@Johannes_B No, link?
@Johannes: Ke$ha might have a lot of problems writing papers in LaTeX, unless she changes the catcode for mathematics.

10:38 AM
@Johannes_B ooh

@Johannes_B ooh

11:23 AM
@StefanKottwitz The decline of the British pound due the Brexit increases the prices ;-)

@ChristianHupfer oh no, my ducks are British... :(

@PauloCereda Well, I would not buy British Ducks ... they are scratched ;-)

@ChristianHupfer oh no
Out of curiosity, is anyobody here using BTRFS too?

@PauloCereda I had problems (strange fragmentations, freezing of kernel, mounting refused) with it during my last install some months ago, so I killed the partitions and used good old ext4 again

@ChristianHupfer Really? Only my old dev notebook has it -- the other machines have EXT4 -- but I must say this old machine has the most recent HDD.

11:38 AM
@PauloCereda Well, I had no time to figure out the reasons (tried on two disks, an older one and a completely new one) -- I was unsatisfied with BTRFS and dropped it.

@ChristianHupfer Interesting, I might stick with EXT4 when I reinstall everything here at some point (I won't dare doing that right now). I remember when my OpenSolaris had ZFS, it seems to be a very nice but underrated FS.

Hi!
I've seen methods to add the date of birth to a moderncv document class, but they all seem extremely unnecessarily cumbersome to achieve such an easy thing.
Right now, I'm using \moderncvstyle{casual}.
Anyone sufficiently expert on Latex (and moderncv) to give me a simple way to add "date of birth" which stays as close as possible to my name in the personal data?

12:50 PM
@DavidCarlisle Oh no! ^^^

@CarLaTeX oh no
@CarLaTeX Anchovies in Wonderland.
I mean Alici nel Paese delle Meraviglie.
PATATINE FRITE
PER PIACERE

1:10 PM
@PauloCereda I'll have patatine fritte, then!

@CarLaTeX YES

@PauloCereda Anchovies lost in Wonderland :)

@CarLaTeX I want a pizza romana

@PauloCereda no way today :)
@PauloCereda should I try this? ^^^

1:29 PM
@CarLaTeX OH MY

@PauloCereda :)

1:43 PM
@Johannes_B -- you've got mail

2:42 PM
@PauloCereda Underrated because OpenSolaris has/had a relatively small number of installations, if I remember correctly. I never used it. I was fed up with the usual Solaris on Sun Sparc Workstations from 2000 to 2006 at my former institute

3:22 PM
TeX system archive restored to laptop (TL'09-17 + MiKTeX: might grab ConTeXt minimals too)

2 hours later…
5:14 PM
@barbarabeeton Thank you, you've got mail as well.
@nbro It does seem like an easy job, but modifying a template to do what you want is an extremely stressful thing. That is just one reason i don't like templates.

5:54 PM
Back from Austrian tour.

6:10 PM
@egreg I go camping next week, with my partner and our two kids.
@egreg It won't be boring, the camp space has a 100Gbit/s link towards Amsterdam.

@StefanKottwitz Wow! The kids will be excited of such a speed!

That's the camping plan: tex-talk.net/2017/07/latex-dante-camp

Q: Still hacking anyway – TeX at the camp

Stefan KottwitzIn five days the hacker camp SHA2017 will start. The name means "Still Hacking Anyway", and it is part of a series of hacker camps happening every four years. This year it will be in the Netherlands, and we expect more than 3500 people attending. DANTE members (Doris, Moss, Martin, Jonas, Stefan...

6:55 PM
@StefanKottwitz Have a lot of fun!
@StefanKottwitz How much is it costing?

7:42 PM
Hi all, is the "Show in PDF" feature that I experience in TeXworks a SyncTeX feature, or a TeXworks feature?
Oh, it's called "jump to PDF", but nonetheless

@1010011010 It's a SyncTeX feature that TeXworks knows how to use.

@DavidCarlisle @JosephWright There is problem with supp-pdf.mkii and active = tex.stackexchange.com/questions/383892/…
\documentclass[a4paper,12pt]{article}
\usepackage[turkish]{babel}
\usepackage{graphicx}
\begin{document}
Hello world
\end{document}

7:59 PM
@AlanMunn Hmm, it's broken. :D

@1010011010 When you compile are the synctex.gz files being created?

@UlrikeFischer I'd seen

@AlanMunn Yup!
It suddenly stopped working, I didn't change anything about the TeX installation (or any installation for that matter). The problem is that it jumps to random places in the PDF, and this happens for any document that I'm viewing

@1010011010 Even after deleting the files and recompiling?

@AlanMunn Yep

8:14 PM
@1010011010 Strange.

@AlanMunn 8-)

8:33 PM
@JosephWright @UlrikeFischer I'd better add that to the list of pending changes. I assume we can just set the catcode of = before loading supp-*

@DavidCarlisle Yup

@JosephWright I don't suppose \ifnum\catcode`\= =12 \else \@latex@error{what do you think you are doing?} is an acceptable fix?

@DavidCarlisle The Turkish babel business is very awkward

8:53 PM
@DavidCarlisle You want to change this along with the dot business?

9:04 PM
@JosephWright yep but I'm just passing by today, will see if i can move things along tomorrow

@JosephWright 250,- for the whole time

9:31 PM
@StefanKottwitz Not too bad

@JosephWright DANTE sponsors 6 tickets, so I pay just for my partner's ticket and the kids enter for free
@JosephWright Yes, it's affordable and reasonable seen the camp effort

@StefanKottwitz Cant imagine UK-TUG going for that ...

@JosephWright Yes, it's the big number of members that allows such activities.
