`vpa_comp` now only removes whitespace for scalar, real-values output (in which case all whitespace is unwanted).
`disp_comp` manually includes code for sym input. This is done because I don't know how to call sym/disp when disp has been shadowed; and it also allows some tweaking

@LuisMendo Thanks! You would think that by design builtin should always perform the exact same as a direct call, so perhaps this is an edge case not addressed before.

Based on this, it looks like vpa and sym/disp are "core library functions", but not builtin functions. I don't know how to call a non-builtin function that has been shadowed
