How do they know a title of each book?

In Essos, we see many worshippers of the Lord of Light, also known as R'hllor. In Israel, time of Ahab, we see many worshippers of Baal, the personification of the sun. I'm wondering. Baal worshippers were ok with killing their sons and in fact were known for making their sons pass through fire...
