7:28 AM
How has George not talked about the details of probably one of the most important events in the books

8:18 AM
still looking some SSM about the sacrifice?

Yup
Really shocked too
There's literally nothing to go on

JAD
It's almost as if we are asked to take for granted that the dragons were gone, people tried frantically to revive them (drinking wildfire and that jazz), and now they're back all of a sudden. Just roll with it.

Absolutely. Guess that's why E&L, BrandonBFish didn't respond, they probably don't know for sure themselves

1 hour later…
9:33 AM
Who's BrandonBFish and why should I value his opinion?
I don't think I'd consider the sacrifice one of the most important events in the books.
The birth of the dragons is undoubtedly important but the details of the sacrifice in my mind are like the details of his languages. He'll provide more information if he must.

JAD
it's kind of relevant to know whether the birth of the dragons is because Daenerys is The Chosen One (a.k.a. dumb luck) or because she was a Cunning Genius that totally understands blood magic.

10:04 AM
sacrifice was a magic event. detail too much magic and it become science, not magic
even without explaining that much, I think not explaining exactly how blood magic work make it more mysterious

10:41 AM
@JAD What? It doesn't matter if she totally understands blood magic or not. The point I'm saying is wholly unimportant is which 3 (or less/more) were significant in the resurrection. As Kep says, explain too much and you lose the magic.

JAD
Whatever, there is a gradient between explaining every single detail, or nothing at all. In this case, nothing is explained whatsoever, but only vaguely hinted at.

11:08 AM
Maybe that was step 1 in his 3 step process
Also I think if it was clearer how things had worked someone else would've chucked 2 and 6 together to make 3 dragons

JAD
Well yeah, why doesn't Dany go look for more eggs?

Ah ah ah ah Hunting Eggs, Hunting Eggs!

11:31 AM
@Edlothiad I meant the birth of the dragons, not the sacrifice.

I'm not sure what you feel is missing from that? Unless it's the details about the sacrifice.

Yup that
A simple "Only death can pay for life. 3 deaths for 3 lives" or "Only death can pay for life. Your life will suffice Maegi!" would have sufficed

So it is details about the sacrifice and not the birth of the dragons.
Birth of the Dragons was quite clear. Blood magic and the increase in magic during the time led to their rebirth.
We fleshed out the other side reasonably well, imo, above
Detailing the Blood Magic, as Kep says would have made it seem more like science. And there is no reason for Dany to learn how it really worked, except but Mirri telling her.
Detailing it wouldn't have made any sense imo.

JAD
@Edlothiad I thought the dragons caused the magic? Or did the pyromancers confuse causation and correlation?

Pyromancers and Quaithe think so

11:39 AM
I don't think it's clear whether it's causation or correlation, again it's my interpretation.

JAD
also, the eggs weren't completely dormant before the ritual right?

They were to all but Dany, weren't they?

JAD
possibly?

I thought everyone says it's cold except Dany feels it's heat

JAD
so that might have been vision, or Targy magic. But it seems that there is some additional factor besides the blood ritual
@Edlothiad didn't one of the handmaidens burn her hands on them?

11:44 AM
But then Viserys would've felt them, right?
I have no clue.

JAD
@Edlothiad but he wasn't a true dragon, he didn't even like gold

Neither were the handmaidens

JAD
hmm, seems that scene was just in the show

Classic D&D

JAD
@Edlothiad literally, first season!
Truly a classic

12:18 PM
@Edlothiad gonna catch them all! What? dragon egg is evolving!

So a client reported a bug, I couldn't reproduce it at all, Asked for more info, again no-repro, offered to share recording of the functionality from my end......Client eagerly grabbed onto it. Started recording.......Bug reproduced!
-_____-

all hail the mighty heisenbug!

1:03 PM
Aegon trying to get out of support calls, classic

1:32 PM
I legit thought it was just his fat fingers that were causing the problem. "I can't press this button unless I try multiple times". In the shared video, the guy was fumbling around, tapping everywhere except the button
Oh well, guess I'll have to fix that then

1:46 PM
we should make a book about dumbest client demands/complaint

1:57 PM
Oh the fault was because he wasn't hitting the keys?! facepalm

It looked like that but for recording, I got a different device and turned out the button was not expanding in correlation with the screen size
That limited the touchable area, therefore the issue the Client's operatives were facing.
