@TheLethalCarrot there's a little bit of rep to get you on your way to the repcap today

1 hour later…
09:03
@Edlothiad Cheers
What's with the resurgence of guardians activity recently?
Quick someone quote this at Rand next time he moans about spoilers
Are all those spoilertags really necessary? Anyone who clicks on a GoT/aSoIaF question should really be prepared for possible spoilers from Season 1 at least. — Rand al'Thor ♦ Jun 19 '16 at 16:11
@TheLethalCarrot From my knowledge, he doesn't like the policy, but has to uphold it as a diamond moderator
@Edlothiad Fair enough, I just found it funny as I was looking through the older questions again
09:20
I've just hopped on the HP hype train. God I hope I'm in for a ride to the rep cap
Do you have any idea what the acronym tbo stands for?
Ewww why?
Man needs some rep, he's given away 100 to some guy he accidentally promised some to. And it's easy lol
Haha fair enough
Lucky guy though
I tried to hop on the train, but the train's derailed. 3 upvotes 2 downvotes on question and only 2 upvotes on answer
Unlucky
You hop on the train at the last stop
09:43
Ye, silly me. Well +20 rep isn't bad haha
I'm also in an argument with someone who says "I don't post on this site because you're so weird"
I just asked him for sources.
Haha need them sauces
Any idea if this is true? Seems like it should be but I can't find any proper sources on it
in North Korea as of 2017 game of thrones is banned by regime of Kim Jong because of his control over media
Hmm I don't think any western TV is allowed or available to the public in NK
Yeah that's what I thought but I couldn't find any actual sources for it
You've said too much, incoming DOXX

Just noticed today how many people walk out of the canteen and light a fag on the short walk back to the factory/offices, the UK has sensitized me. Outside bars and stuff as well, the sheer number is crazy
Clearly I should've waited, that new answer is pretty bounty-able @TheLethalCarrot
I hate smoking so always notice it, also annoying that smokers, in the UK at least, are allowed extra breaks, especially if the boss is a smoker. Luckily no one smokes in my office here
You could do without Quora citations you know @TheLethalCarrot
@Aegon I know but they were the best I could find
If I find better ones I will update them though
I find them just disturbing
It's your answer, you can do whatever you want with it
I am just observing that some of them are wrong
@Edlothiad My mum got a verbal warning from her boss cos half the office had 5-10 smoke breaks a day and she put up a protest whenever they went out she had a break too. Boss said something like "Why are you having all these breaks you don't smoke?" I mean how daft is that.
11:27
And can come off as offensive
@Aegon Oh yeah take them with a pinch of salt, I don't like using Quora but it's the best I could find.
@Aegon Edit the offensive parts out if you want :)
Quora is awesome! Great resources there
@TheLethalCarrot Ye that doesn't make here. Being on flex I can break whenever I want, although I guess I'm always on break. But I could just get up, go outside and have a 5 minute walk as I please.
At my company in London Smokers got two 10 minute breaks that they had to work up, here they just go out for a smoke, it's chill
@TheLethalCarrot Don't see a way to salvage the "Most of the middle East countries are governed by Sharia/Islamic law or its derivatives. " quote
11:31
Guarantee that other answer on the HP question will get all the upvotes, even though they stole my suggestion to look in the book for official documents
Tried removing the opening sentence and replacing it with [Owing to strict regional laws on nudity/broadcast of nudity], Still there is that bit about it being "Blasphemous" at the end. And of course, the assumption that its only female nudity thats frowned upon in the region.
I'd say just remove the quote overall, it's not a proper source you're better off just writing it in your own words
@Edlothiad Which one? The one asking if Harry's real name is Ricardo?
Yep, if Harold is called Batholomew, that one!
@Edlothiad It would be but that's radical editing. TLC's call, the way I see it.
11:34
@Aegon That's why I said it in here and didn't edit (@the)
@Aegon I think the quote is just someone being ignorant/naive, I wouldn't say they were being offensive on purpose but I can remove it if you think it's better?
Sorry chat timed out on me again -_-
"Owing to the strict regional laws on nudity and broadcast thereof and the cultural values, A show like Game of thrones which contains a lot of of such content would have to be drastically censored for it to be in compliance with the aforementioned laws"
Ye I'd replace the Quora quote with that
The Quora quote is as useful
I didn't even go that detailed but it's gone now
The malta comment is hilarious
Oh poo I just realised I said "light a fag" instead of "cigarette" as the (American English) site would probably have preferred, fingers crossed there's no transcript flaggers :/
11:39
That was a terrible spelling mistake, thanks for fixing it
@Edlothiad Ah I know what that word means anyway
@Edlothiad That they got banned?
@Edlothiad There is a reddit joke trending right now, based on that word
Actually not gonna post it
Might be offensive
I don't like it when people take offence when none was implied but I get your meaning
The reddit joke got my upvote and all. But I don't want to risk getting flagged by posting it here
The setting is this news
@Aegon lol
12:42
Ta there's loads of dupes on the site that haven't been closed
I spot them when I'm looking back through the old ones and then forget what the other question was
Damn this HP one was a bad idea, low effort definitely = bronze but not silver... GG
Unless I get accepted B-)
Likely won't happen though
Aye you've been overtaken
13:26
Why would the KG have battled with Ned given they likely knew about Lyanna and Rhaegar marrying. They could have just taken Ned to Lyanna so she could tell him...
@TheLethalCarrot Honourable death. They swore their allegiance to the Targaryens, and the last order they were given was let no one into the ToJ (probably even Ned). These were Rhaegar's most trusted, of course they died for him
Still seems daft, then again the whole R+L not telling anyone is also daft
If I was KG I would go out fighting rather than be taken and beheaded, or forced to live in exile.
Although it's a shame the world lost TSOTM
Or they could have done a Selmy and stayed
A swordsman like Dayne would have been happily welcomed in I'm sure

A: Why did the defenders of the Tower of Joy fight Eddard?

AegonSPOILERS ALERT This answer will be composed entirely of spoilers. You have been warned. Read on your own hazard. Editors, please do not go through the trouble of neutralizing words which may be spoilerish. The warning above should be enough. Because they were supposedly: Change of Regim...

13:35
Yes but they served the Targaryens, were sworn to them
@TheLethalCarrot Selmy was changed because of his personal experience with Robert
So was Selmy...
@Aegon Ah okay
The others didn't know Robert like Selmy did
Give me a min to read that :P
Selmy saw a brave young man who was the epitome of chivalry which was a striking contrast when compared to Aerys
And Selmy decided he liked Robert better than Aerys
The others saw just a usurper in field
13:37
> “No,” Ned said with sadness in his voice. “Now it ends.”
NO NOWY TENDS!!!!!!!!
Lol
Still they are essentially protecting Lyanna and Aegon at this point, I'm sure they know Ned wouldn't harm either of them. They could have let him through and kept their vows and even still served the Targs. I kinda get why they did it but it seems a bit flawed to me
@TheLethalCarrot Ye but ned said NOWY TENDS so they had to fight
haha
NOH NOWY TENDS
FTFY
@TheLethalCarrot How would they know that Ned won't hurt Jon?
They didn't know Ned
Besides, Robert already killed sister of one great house and two of Rhaegar's children
While Ned would be expected to save Lyanna, Jon's fate would be very much at risk
Not like the KG thought the rebels to be above such things
13:45
I suppose I'm inferring that cos we know of Ned but they may not have done
God I'm done with this week, take me home....
This is mildly interesting* the last paragraph is the only one that matters
@TheLethalCarrot Exactly what I was going for
Have you heard this Wyman Manderly cooked the three Freys theory?
Is it a theory?
13:50
I may have seen it somewhere, I remember reading something along those lines
14:02
That site's a pain to search through, wasn't the scroll I was looking for but kinda interesting
@TheLethalCarrot These are not the scrolls you're looking for
10 upvotes, the other is at 21
people have NO respect for FGIW
tbf 10 rep for spending 20 seconds writing an answer, lolol
Haha tough luck
@Edlothiad Yeah and mines stuck at 4 for 30 mins ish Though I was working between writing the answer
14:17
If it was asoiaf or tl I'd have spent about 30-45 minutes writing an answer, here it's like "Is harry his real name" copy paste sploosh
To be fair you couldda said # Yes and people would have loved it over there
Just #Yes, provided the quote about the other Henry, mod lock the question lol
What kind of a family tree uses maiden names throughout? — AJFaraday 2 mins ago
que?
Idk why Paradox doesn't let us genocide provinces like EU-IV
Two things I want paradox to port from EU-IV to CK2
1. Genocide troublesome populace
2. Better diplomacy like EU-IV
Hmmm might be worth modding
14:27
Beastmode today, 10 FPs before work days end
Mornin' gents
"Is Harry's real name Gigi Hadid?" is now in HNQ
Welldone SFF!
And I only got 10 upvotes, thanks HNQ...
14:51
@Aegon What the ever loving hell is wrong with people
In other news
Now that's the sort of stuff I like
Also 222/400 at the same time makes it even better
I hadn't seen that. Thats great

1 hour later…
16:17
needing to find the lines about how Catelyn and Ned came to love each other over time
She had come to love her husband with all her heart
@TheLethalCarrot didn't one of them say at the time of marriage they didn't but over time it grew
I think so but can't find it at the moment
I have a feeling it was from AGoT Cat I but my Google Fu is failing me
i know!!!
i'm hoping its not a show thing
16:33
I was sure the quote was something like She looked over at the man she had come to love
And goes off to talk about Ned marrying her after Brandons death
meh, its just for an M&TV answer so i found work arounds lol
Ah fair enough haha
@TheLethalCarrot that’s exactly it, searchoficesndfire “man she would come to love
@Edlothiad Yeah but I thought there was another one detailing about her first being betrothed to Brandon, then marrying Ned and him going off to war and her thinking a similar thing
16:48
When she talks about Jon and robb? As babies?
Yeah but reading that bit all she really says is than of the husband she scarcely knew so I may be remembering it wrong
@amflare “how do we know that the armour didn’t stop a blaster bolt?” Because of all the dead storm troopers that’s how
"It's common knowledge" is not good enough when you use it make an argument that is not common knowledge.
Q:"Does storm trooper armor stop blasters?" A:"no, behold the dead and the armor they wear" is fine.
the answer I commented on is not
Did Ned and Ashara love each other?
It really is common knowledge though, that’s like asking if knights have swords in ASOIAF
@TheLethalCarrot ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Some say it was just summer loving and they had a blast
17:01
I've seen conflicting arguments either way, and obvs haven't read the books to that point yet
Oh woops home time
Woop
Also some say Howland and Ashara got it ooon but I don't know
Ciao
@Edlothiad But it doesn't respond to OP saying "isn't it better than nothing?"
17:19
The other day I sent an email to SO saying "this be cool?" and I just got a reply saying "yeah, but don't be stupid"
Sure it’s a shit answer, but that particular point doesn’t need a source

1 hour later…
18:36
@TheLethalCarrot well the story is Ashara threw herself out the window because Ned broke her heart
(who is Ashara?)
@amflare Ashara Dayne
From where and when?
Book only character
might one of those "not really dead" characters
supposedly hanging around fAegon posing as a Septa.
