@Joe - I suspect you're right about the recording vs. in-person voice, but I'm not certain (as you implied as well) why that's so. A study evaluating that would inherently have a lot of flaws (as does any study relying on self-reporting). No one would design a new study asking parents to avoid talking to the child.
