@LakshmiNarayanan By the way, I told you about how the Devata Kanda Sutras are lost, but I forgot to mention one slight complication. Sometime relatively recently, I think in the 1800's, several manuscripts were discovered, which had the title "Sankarsha Kanda". If you remember, Sankarsha Kanda is the other name for the Devata Kanda Sutras.

@KeshavSrinivasan yes i remember, was it a collection of aphorisms of the sutra style? Does it match the language state of Purva Mimamsa Sutras and Brahma Sutras?

@LakshmiNarayanan But don't get too excited! The text that was discovered was not focused on the gods at all. Instead it's a text focused on the details of Yagnas, just like the Purva Mimamsa Sutras.

@KeshavSrinivasan Do we know why it is labelled Sankarsha Kanda then?

@LakshmiNarayanan However, one of the five Sutras I mentioned appears in the text, namely "Na Na Va Devata Pritaktvat". But the other four Sutras don't appear, and apart from that one line and the title "Sankarsha Kanda" the text seems to have no connection to the Devata Kanda Sutras. So it's weird.
@LakshmiNarayanan No, it's a mystery.

@KeshavSrinivasan what gives!
@KeshavSrinivasan Where was it discovered?

2:35 AM
@LakshmiNarayanan I'm not sure, all I know is that multiple manuscripts were independently discovered. Those manuscripts didn't just include the Sutra text, they also included two commentaries on the Sutra text. The commentaries are written by Devaswami and Bhaskararaya.
@LakshmiNarayan That brings me to another strange thing. Devaswami is listed as one of the commentators on the unified Mimamsa Shastra in that quote from the Prapancha Hridayam I showed you earlier.

@KeshavSrinivasan Yeah, i was looking at the same post too, it is not mentioned in the quote you shared.

@LakshmiNarayanan "On this Mimamsa Shastra of 20 chapters, Bodhayana wrote a Bhashya that bore the name Krtakoti. Fearing that the great length of this commentary would cast it into oblivion, Upavarsha somewhat abridged it. Even this commentary might be considered too voluminous for study by people of dull wit - fearing thus, Devasvamin considerably abridged Upavarsha's already abridged commentary."

@KeshavSrinivasan oh spelling difference!

@LakshmiNarayanan Yeah, I just spelled it with a w rather than a v while typing it informally.

@KeshavSrinivasan Bhaskara == Bhaskararaya?

2:41 AM
@LakshmiNarayanan There's a whole bunch of figures in Indian history called Bhaskara. There's Bhaskara the commentator on the Brahma Sutras, there's an astronomer named Bhaskara, there's a Shakta philosopher named Bhaskararaya, etc.
@LakshmiNarayanan I'm not sure who this Sankarsha Kanda commentator Bhaskararaya is.

@KeshavSrinivasan ok, so potentially another Bhaskara namely this Bhaskararaya

@LakshmiNarayanan By the way, the best website to refer to for this stuff is agnim.com It's a website devoted entirely to compiling every bit of information or documents we have related to the Devata Kanda Sutras.

@KeshavSrinivasan Thanks, i have bookmarked it.
@KeshavSrinivasan Hopefully we discover something valuable and are in a position to read it within our lifetimes!
@KeshavSrinivasan Someone should translate the inferred sutras from Devasvamin's work from sanskrit to english.

@LakshmiNarayanan Before I came across agnim.com I thought I was the only one with a Devata Kanda Sutras obsession. But the proprietor of the website is even more obsessed than me, haha
@LakshmiNarayanan Yeah, that would be good.

In the first chapter the 'purpose' of all special mantras in propounding
the essence of devatAs is given. The second explains the fact that
deities invoked by mantras are what is left of the Veda after vidhi,
arthavAda, etc. In the third, the adornment of the essence of devatAs
with no qualities or with qualities such as incarnation at will, etc. is
illuminated. The fourth determines the benefits of worshipping
devatAs--such as attaining power and joy from the splendor of residing
in the various heavens by the grace of the various devatAs. So,
@KeshavSrinivasan lol
@KeshavSrinivasan For good reason!
@KeshavSrinivasan Remember my question on why one would potentially prefer boons from Devatas than the post of Devatas itself? Seems like chapter 4 has the answer.

3:01 AM
@LakshmiNarayanan By the way, that summary of the chapters of the Devata Kanda Sutras from the Sarvamatasangraha bears absolutely no relation to the Sankarsha Kanda manuscripts that have been found. That's what makes those manuscripts so weird.
@LakshmiNarayanan Yeah, it would be such a cool text to read if only it still existed.

@KeshavSrinivasan Oh!

@KeshavSrinivasan Do you have a list of all Sampradaya with name, philosophy, chief expounders, supreme deity, Vedic/non-vedic etc.?

@Pandya No, I don't have a systematic list, Wikipedia may have things like that though. But I can try to tell you whatever info about different sects you want.

@KeshavSrinivasan ok. Thanks, I suggest you to write (in your free time) information in systematic manner i.e in tabular form etc. and then share it to users like me so-that we can get very useful information. (We can trust you more than Wikipedia! Haha)

@Pandya The four Vaishnava Sampradyams are Brahma Samparadayams, Sri Samparadyam, Rudra Sampradayam, and Kumara Sampradayam. Brahma Sampradayam contains the Madhwa sect and the Gaudiya Vaishnava sect. Sri Sampradayam contains the Sri Vaishnava sect, the Swaminarayan sect, and the Ramanandi sect. Rudra Sampradayam contained Vishnuswami's sect and Vallabhacharya's sect, which may be one and the same. Kumara Sampradayam contains Nimbarkacharya's sect.

3:12 AM
Better to make a document/file comprising the information.

@Pandya Madhwas believe in Dvaita, Gaudiya Vaishnavas believe in Achintya Bhedabheda, Sri Vaishnavas believe in Visistadvaita, Swaminarayan people believe in Panchatattva Visistadvaita, Ramanandis believe in some flavor of Visistadvaita which I know nothing about, Vallabhacharya people believe in Shuddhadvaita, and Nimbarkacharya believed in Dvaitadvaita.
@Pandya Yeah, I could make a document.

@Pandya Beware! there is no purposeful causation here! right @KeshavSrinivasan?

@KeshavSrinivasan ok. Thanks. You may also include other sampradaya (than Vaishnava) which you know about.

@Pandya Yeah, I know three popular Shaivite sects: Shaiva Siddhanta, Kashmiri Shaivism, and Lingayatisn (aka Veerashaivism). There's also Pashupata and Siddha Siddhanta, which are Shaivite sects which are not very popular. And Shaktas have two Paramparas: Srikula and Kalikula. The Sri Vidya sect belongs Srikula.

3:18 AM
@Pandya Haha

@KeshavSrinivasan instead of writing here, I recommend you to make a document.
So-that you can share whenever and no need to write again and again
Take enough time you require :)
Thanks.

SS.
@Tezz @TheDestroyer @KeshavSrinivasan @Pandya DO you have the english translation of Suta samhita of Skanda purana?

@Pandya Haha yeah, I do tend to repeat a lot of info, so a document might save me some trouble.
@Pandya By the way, some Sampradayams would be complicated to write about. Look at all the info about Kashmiri Shaivism I included in my question here:
6
Q: Who are all the Gurus of Abhinavagupta and what Paramparas did they come from?

Keshav SrinivasanGenerally, Vaishnavas follow the Pancharatra Agamas, Shaivites follow the Shaiva Agamas, and Shaktas follow the Shaiva Agamas. But long ago, there was a group of people in Kashmir who followed the Shakta Agamas but adopted Shiva as their Ishta Devata. That group evolved into what we now call Kash...

@SS. No, I have only in Sanskrit...

SS.
@Tezz kashi khanda of suta samhita. Do you have it?

3:31 AM
@SS. by Kashi Khanda do you mean Mukti Khanda?...

@KeshavSrinivasan Yes an almanac would be good, you could probably release it on Amazon for Kindle as well.

SS.
@Tezz In which khanda is suta samhita part of ?

@SS. there are two classifications of Skandha Purana one by Khandas and one by Samhitas...
4
Q: What is the correspondence between Khandas and Samhitas in the Skanda Purana?

Keshav SrinivasanAs far as I know, the only unabridged English translation of the Skanda Purana is the translation published by Motilal Banarsidass, which you can read here. As you can see from the Table of Contents here, it is divided into seven Khandas or sections: the Maheshwara Khanda, the Vaishnava Khanda, ...

SS.
@Tezz I am looking for Suta samhita.

@SS. It is avaliable in Sanskrit in archive with tika of Vidyaranya too...
@TheDestroyer Some months ago you were thinking Lord Venkateshwara is like Shiva... like Ishwara name in end.. snakes in hand etc... I found that Venkateshwara is considered Hari-Hara form by Alwars... dravidaveda.org/… @SS. @LakshmiNarayanan @KeshavSrinivasan

SS.
3:49 AM
@TheDestroyer Were you thinking Venkateshwara is Shiva because he has Ishwara in the end and wearing sakes?

@Tezz Let me check this out, very interesting find!

@LakshmiNarayanan yeah you may check commentary too as you understand Tamil...
@SS. not 'is Shiva' but 'is like Shiva'... haha..

@Tezz It is part of Mundram ThiruvandhAdhi of PeyAzhwar

SS.
@Tezz Due to this, shaivas argued that the deity in Tirumala is Shiva. You might know that.

@SS. yeah I know it and Sri Ramanuja solved the problem...
@LakshmiNarayanan Oh ok...

3:54 AM
@Tezz This Sri Vaishnava website say that this verse is not talking about Venkateshwara: moonramayiram.blogspot.com/p/munram-thiruvandhadhi.html

SS.
@LakshmiNarayanan Which verse of Moondram Tiruvandhaadi?

emberumAn takes several avatAras and one of them is SankaranArAyaNa avatAra. It is also called harihara avatAra. It is half Sankara and half nArAyaNa. To a Bakta His avatAras are very enjoyable.

tirumalaimEl endaikku irANDuruvum onrAi isaindu tOnrum—Even very learned men comment on this line as—in the vigraha of vEngaDanAtha both the form of Siva and nArAyaNa are seen. He has jaTAmuDi, kireeTa, mazhu, chakra, nAgABaraNa and ponnAN. Hence He is Sankara nArAyaNa only. This interpretation is totally wrong since the moorti does not have any sign of Siva swaoopa. It is Sreeman nArAyaNa alone wi

@KeshavSrinivasan Was just about to post this!

@KeshavSrinivasan Oh ok...

@KeshavSrinivasan tiruvanandAzhwAn is a nice name for AnantaShesha :D

3:59 AM
@LakshmiNarayanan Haha yeah, the Tamil names are nice, like Senai Mudhaliar, Chakrathalwar, etc.

@KeshavSrinivasan Not to forget Periya Thiruvadi and Siriya Thiruvadi!

4:18 AM
@LakshmiNarayanan Oh yeah, those are two other good ones. I don't know who came up with those two names. Maybe they're from the Alwars' poems.

4:40 AM
@KeshavSrinivasan Maybe this sheds some light -> ramanuja.org/sv/bhakti/archives/jan2001/0102.html

@LakshmiNarayanan I know why they're called that, I just don't know who named them.

@KeshavSrinivasan oh ok

Do you know what is Shanti Gita? @KeshavSrinivasan @Tezz ?
It has 8 Adhyaya.
I found "ब्रह्म सत्यं जगन्मिथ्या" (which is difficult to find in scriptures) in 3.13th verse. @TheDestroyer

@Tezz good verse.
@Pandya which purana has Shanti Gita?

@Pandya who wrote that..?...

@Pandya What does this mean?

I first time heard of Shanti Gita.. the last part is as:इत्यध्यात्मविद्यायां योगशास्त्रे श्रीवासुदेवार्जुनसंवादे
शान्तिगीतायामष्टमोऽध्यायः ॥८॥

@TheDestroyer I don't know that's why I'm asking if you know /cc @Tezz
@LakshmiNarayanan I've included the link.

Q: Veda, Upanishad and the Physical Universe

SRSI haven't read the Veda or Upanishad (and other Hindu scriptures). But I'm eager to know whether it does offer any account of how the universe came into existence?

Q: Why don't husbands change their dress code after wife's death like the women who wear white saree after husband's death?

Sakthi Wife at the time of husbands death wear white saree and does not put Kunkumam on her forehead. She also does not participate in certain functions and seeing her is considered as a Bad Omen. Husbands don't change their life style even in a small way. QUESTION : Why husbands don't change their...

Can we argue that this is because of Nature of work or duties of males of 4 varnas. i.e. A brahmana's duty as a priest or guru ,or teacher reaquires him to maintain special dress code at the time of puja or in Guru-kula. Similarly Kshatriya's need to be ever prepared for warfare i.e. they need to wear spicial protection (armor) during war time so they can't discard that dress code
Similarly Vaisya's needed to travel a lot for bussiness so inorder to protect themselves of heat ,cold , wind etc. during travel they needed a good clothing all the time.Males generally stays more outside and in social environment than women , that's also one of the reason.
@Tezz @TheDestroyer @Pandya @SS @KeshavSrinivasan - n all ⬆⬆

@SwiftPushkar I'm not sure whether Dharma Shastras actually tell to change dress for women... or it just culture...

@Tezz - Yes , i too think this is more related to culture , 👍 i am just trying to find more practical reason , although women's work also involved lot of interaction with nature in the past.Male domination might be a factor.

@SwiftPushkar Duplicate of hinduism.stackexchange.com/q/8508/277 ?

@Pandya how is that question related to Universe?...

@Pandya - 😊 Yes , exactly , talking about Creation 🌏🌙🌟⚡⛈🔥💧🐶🌷🌞👫

12:48 PM
@SwiftPushkar I think the question is opinion based he should ask instead "Why do women change dress code to white saari?". (How about closing it as opinion based? @TheDestroyer @Tezz)

@Pandya if you are talking of previous question... It's of Mythology SE not Hinduism SE...😀😀

@SwiftPushkar oh mythology.SE!

@Pandya -,yes ,on mythology SE 👍

@Tezz yes, when I don't find close button I checked whether I'm logged in or not and find "join this community" then I checked site and realized what you've said! Haha

@Pandya haha... 😀😀

12:51 PM
It's due to having blue icon because both are betas.

@Pandya - I am not sure , I don't think women choosed that option themselves but was somehow the law came into exsistance because of lot's of factor's like foregein invasion etc.

Yes but I think Why do.... is more suitable question then Why don't.....

@Pandya - Historical record's might help ,like does all the women of the society accepted this or only some portion of it , or some previous records from mythology i.e. a famous character done this and the tradition got followed from that personality.

Yes.

1:10 PM
@Pandya - haha yes , both are beta
@SS - I guess that Iravati river mentioned in MB is "Ravi" river which originates in Himachal Predesh - see -en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ravi_River part of sapta sindhu region, and not that of burma .👍

Q: Why do widows wear white sarees after their husband's death?

GaneshAfter the death of a man (husband), the wife (widow) is not allowed to wear bangles, kumkum (sindhur) and is asked to wear white saree & shave her head. Is there any reference for such a practice in scriptures? And what is the purpose of such a custom?

@Pandya look like opinion based but not sure.

S S
@SwiftPushkar Oh! I didn't know that.

@SS - Yes I too searced & found that there are 2 rivers one from sapta-sindhu & one which is totally different i.e.from burma 😊👍👍

@SwiftPushkar There's a Ravi river in JK which is tributary of Sindhu river.

@TheDestroyer - Yes 👍😊

S S
The river in the question is ऐरावती but in the Bharata, it is इरावति
Is the pronunciation Airaavati correct?

1:59 PM
@SS - Yes ,that pranounsation "Airavati" ऎरावती" is correct ,because that river name is associated with Indras elephant airavat 😊👍🐘

S S
@SwiftPushkar Airavat is white. :D

@SS - haha 😀 👍👍 BTW nice find , keep it up , it's obvious with similar names , very excellent try👍

@SwiftPushkar I deleted that answer

@SwiftPushkar Is this partial answer?

A: Is Lord Shani Harmful ? OR a Friend?

SwiftPushkarWe find a nice description about Shani-Deva in our puranas like Skanda Purana & Padma purana. Puranas tells us that Shani Deva is sun's son. He gained favour of Lord Mahadeva. And Lord Mahadeva granted him the status of planet. He is also called in puranas as "Sauri" or "Surishwara". He is said...

@SS - Yes ,I saw that ,but you did really tried well for finding sources👍😊
@TheDestroyer - No , i deliberately avoided to comment about Shani-Deva being Harmful or friend ,it depends uopn situation and personal opinions of people & astrologer's , instead i have shown that he is having downward look & is a fierce deity👍👍

2:07 PM
@SwiftPushkar Ok. Looks like it answers only how to please Shani Deva? Will see once again.

@TheDestroyer - Yes , i will recheck question & will edit accordingly as i previously said ,there are still some points left to be discussed in the answer😊👍

@SwiftPushkar Ok. But good answer, you answered from many Puranas.😊

2:21 PM
@TheDestroyer - Thanks bro 😊👍👍💐

2:39 PM
anyone have excerpts on how Purva Mimamsa handles the concept/ideal of FreeWill?

@TheDestroyer - I think we safely can close the Guru question as duplicate , as the core enquiry is the same & the vidya without guru shines or not is primarily opinion based cause people could argue Yes , no , don't know , could be , not everytime etc.

@SwiftPushkar Initiate the close vote. I will use my vote if it gets at least 3-4 votes.

@LakshmiNarayanan - Hii , haven't gone through "Purva-Mimamsa" yet 😊 @Tezz knows more abt.PM & @KeshavSrinivasan also

@SwiftPushkar Ok cool, Thank you!

@SwiftPushkar A ball or a mouse. Based on our view point.

@SS - Yeah , it's a ball actually ,i just brought mouse in that pic.with imagination

S S
@SwiftPushkar Your imagination is good.
Not many has a different point of view.

@LakshmiNarayanan As far as I know, Purva Mimamsa works don't discuss free will much, but they do believe in it. It's only the Vedanta school that puts qualifications on it and reconciles it with Brahman's will and all that.

@SS - haha , mine is like 5 year's old 🚶 , pretty basic

3:40 PM
@KeshavSrinivasan Oh Ok, I was wondering if Mimamsakas believe that Karma is a mindless law in its essential operation, then how is there room for a concept like freewill?

@LakshmiNarayanan Well, they thought humans could do whatever they wanted, and then the Universe would just mindlessly give rewards or punishments to the person based on that.

@KeshavSrinivasan So would it then be right to conceive of Karma as an equilibrating principle is something that Mimamsakas believed in?

@LakshmiNarayanan No, they didn't link Karma to equilibrium. They just thought that when you did any action, it would create an Apurva or an unseen thing. And then at some point that Apurva would result in you experiencing a certain fruit.
@LakshmiNarayanan And they believed, just as the Vedanta school believes, that there is no way of predicting how long it takes for an Apurva to bear fruit.

@KeshavSrinivasan Ok, what is the order of texts your recommend to read up Purva Mimamsa?

@LakshmiNarayanan In the Purva Mimamsa worldview there is the visible world and the invisible world. Whenever you do an action, that action has physical effects in the visible world, but it also has unseen effects in the invisible world. And they thought that Sabda Pramana was the only way of knowing what unseen effects actions have in the unseen world.
@LakshmiNarayanan The most important thing to read is Shabara's Bhashya on he Purva Mimamsa Sutras.
@LakshmiNarayanan By the way, I should tell you that most of the Purva Mimamsa Sutras is extremely boring; it deals with technical details of various Yagnas. What's interesting to read are the parts that deal with interesting philosophical subjects rather than technical details of Yagnas.

3:58 PM
@KeshavSrinivasan Are these philosophical subjects interspersed or collected together in certain portions of Shabara's Bhashya?

@LakshmiNarayanan In some sense Purva Mimamsa was a ritualist school first and a philosophical school second.
@LakshmiNarayanan The most important philosophical stuff occupies the first few Adhyayas of the Purva Mimamsa Sutras. And then after that various philosophical topics are scattered through the remainder of the text.

@KeshavSrinivasan Yes, it seems to have been their downfall as well.
@KeshavSrinivasan Ok cool, I have pulled Vol I from archive, let me see if i am capable of reading these source texts so to speak.

@LakshmiNarayanan I have all three volumes of Shabara's Bhashya on Google Drive. Here's volume 1: gdurl.com/PG8Z/download Here's volume 2: gdurl.com/Wt0M/download And here's volume 3: gdurl.com/NTJQ/download

@KeshavSrinivasan Oh cool, thanks!

@LakshmiNarayanan The first volume has Adhyayas 1-3. Out of that, I would suggest that you just read Adhyaya 1. That's the important philosophical stuff I mentioned.

4:10 PM
@KeshavSrinivasan Yeah, given my reading speed, Adhyaya 1 is gonna keep me occupied for a while.

@LakshmiNarayanan After that, to navigate to the other philosophical parts you can use Ganganath Jha's book "Purva Mimamsa in its Sources": archive.org/details/PurvaMimamsaInItsSourcesDr.GanganathJha

@SwiftPushkar @Tezz @KeshavSrinivasan Hellos

@KrishnShweta hlw... long time to see you...

@LakshmiNarayanan Aw!! I thought you are a girl :D
@Tezz Yeah.. :)

@KrishnShweta You may be interested in my question here about the Rudra Sampradayam of Vaishnavism, since that's what your family belongs to:
2
Q: What surviving works of the Rudra Sampradayam are there before Vallabhacharya?

Keshav SrinivasanAs I discuss in my question here, Vishnu is said to have taught the principles of Vaishnavism to four disciples: Lakshmi, Brahma, Shiva and Sanatkumara. And in turn they started the four main Sampradayas or traditions of Vaishnavism: Sri Sampradayam (which I belong to), Brahma Sampradayam, Rudra ...

@KeshavSrinivasan Oh!! OK..
@SS Sree Charan?
@TheDestroyer Hi

@KrishnShweta LOL just got what you meant!

@KrishnShweta lot's of things have changed here... 😀😂😂

4:18 PM
@LakshmiNarayanan ^^
@Tezz Is he sree charan or someone else?

@KrishnShweta - Yes , Hii .💐
@KrishnShweta - 😀😀

@KrishnShweta yeah he is Sree Charan... he is one but people call him by different names...😀😀

@Tezz - एकं श्री चरण व्यक्ति: विप्रा बहुदा वदन्ति 😀👍👍

@Tezz lol. Good one. Ekam Sreecharan vipra bahuda Vadanti.
@SwiftPushkar ohh.. i didn't see your message.
But both of us said same thing.

4:24 PM
@TheDestroyer - Hey hey , that is a terrible coincidence ,we said exactly same thing ☺👍👍

@SwiftPushkar @TheDestroyer haha...lol...😁😁😁
@SwiftPushkar once again coincidence...

@Tezz - 😀 @TheDestroyer - but i have added one word Vyakti = person 👍

@SwiftPushkar yeah 😀 .

@SwiftPushkar @TheDestroyer it is Shakha bheda... haha...😀😀

@Tezz - haha , Vyakti bheda also 👬

4:28 PM
@Tezz Kala Bheda on Hinduism SE!

@TheDestroyer - BTW , I laughed a lot on your "Vastu-Dosha" comment 👌👌

@TheDestroyer @SwiftPushkar haha... 😀😀

@SwiftPushkar yeah. But i don't know why i have that problem.
@SS Do you watch GOT?

@KeshavSrinivasan Vallabha believed in Shuddadvaita. Right?

S S
@KrishnShweta sree charan who?

4:34 PM
@TheDestroyer - Anyway I liked your linkage of that problem with room & Over here people generally blame vastu for most of their problems , it's also a fact , here people spend good lot of money on vastu dosha nivaran & a florshing bussiness here 😀

14 mins ago, by Tezz
@KrishnShweta yeah he is Sree Charan... he is one but people call him by different names...😀😀

@TheDestroyer No.I don't watch it. Why?

@SwiftPushkar Same here too.
@SS Ok. I saw your answer on Eddard Stark. Thought you would watch.

S S
@TheDestroyer Are you interested in GOT?

@KrishnShweta Yeah, he did.

4:37 PM
@SS Nothing like that. I watch it. I asked Keshav, he said he won't watch it.

S S
@TheDestroyer Google, YouTube undagaa show mottam choodatam enduku mitrama?

@SS ok 👍👍.

@KeshavSrinivasan And his acharya believed in dvaita. Interesting :)

@TheDestroyer - Do you personally believe in that , I am absolutely not . Yeah but believe in praying of vastu purusha , i like that concept well.👍

@SwiftPushkar Yes. I believe in Vastu Sastra. It's an ancient Science by us. But i don't blindly believe in only one Pundit. I check with multiple pundits.
@SwiftPushkar I think Subtle rays or flow of energies decide things here. we are not able to see them with normal eyes.

4:41 PM
@TheDestroyer - No ,I am with Vastu Shastra ,but asking only about things like vastu dosha & spirit's roming in vastu etc.
@TheDestroyer - Yeah ,its true👍

@SwiftPushkar Best way to get rid of all Vastu Doshas is to perform "Vastu Puja" before starting any construction. One Puja and and no Dosha.
@SwiftPushkar what spirit?

@KrishnShweta Yeah, at least some people argue that before the time of Vallabhacharya, Rudra Sampradayam people believed in some kind of dualistic philosophy. But Vallabhacharya's followers dispute that; they think Rudra Sampradayam has always believed in Shuddhadvaita.

@TheDestroyer - yeah , generally we all do that , & spirit's means the once who is in the past associated with that vastu ,who still rome there etc. This theory is quite popular here , even in educated people that some evil spirit's are there in their homes , my mom also think's so 😂😂 offcourse without any need or proof 😂😂

@LakshmiNarayanan By the way, you may be interested in reading my Purva Mimamsa questions: hinduism.stackexchange.com/questions/tagged/purva-mimamsa They contains lots of information and quotes from Purva Mimamsa works.

@SwiftPushkar ohh.. Actually there's a possibility. We call it dayyam or Bhootam. But chances are less. Only those who still have unfulfilled desires stay there as Bhootams.

@SwiftPushkar Evil spirits exist.

@SS Yes. They have Sukshma Sareera. Instead of going to Pitru Loka they stay here on Bhuloka.

@TheDestroyer - ok , we also call them bhoota , preta etc ,but the spirits i am talking abt.not necessarily means evil once , but some atmas whose mind was deeply connected with that vastu previously or ancestors whose that vastu was.
@SS - Yes , I do believe in them ,since our scripures confirms that 😊👍👍

@SwiftPushkar never heard of bhutas and pretas connection with vastu.
Will those Atmas stay in certain lands or houses as they like those houses or lands?

S S
@TheDestroyer Like haunted mansions I guess.

@TheDestroyer - no they do not necessarily bhootas & pretas ,but just unliberated souls wandering

4:55 PM
@SS But I think Haunted mansions have nothing to do with vastu.
@SwiftPushkar @SS Can Vastu sastra identify bhoota, Preta and Pisacha in houses or lands?

@SS - yes a kind of , but not necessarily ghost presence as @TheDestroyer said some energies also

Oh nice, ghost discussion going on!

S S
@TheDestroyer Like you said before, they live in that place or a house because they were connected to those places when they were living.

@TheDestroyer - ohh ,quite interesting , Atharvaved is also having lots of charms related to drive away those creature's

@SS Yes. But what is connection with Vastu? Some Bhoota or Ghost finder can only say that.

S S
4:57 PM
@TheDestroyer No vastu shastra has nothing to do with ghosts.

@SS Even i think the same.
@ChinmaySarupria I heard Rajastan has a village affected with Ghosts. No one dares to enter that village. Is that true?

S S
@TheDestroyer There are some ways to find out spirits in a home. I have read an article about it when I modified a question related to it.

@SS recently, i watched a film on Ghosts. l7 movie
Good movie by new director and actors.

S S
Title itself is 17? No captions?

@ChinmaySarupria - haha yes , topic of your intrest ,I think , i remember our previous discussion 😊👍

5:03 PM
@SS The movie says those who born with same Rasi and same time and place (not actually possible), shouldn't meet each other. If those two persons meet each other, one will die within 24 hours.

@KeshavSrinivasan That's where i started to develop interest, i am absorbing few questions/answers daily.

@SS Yeah. L7.

S S
@TheDestroyer Oh! I vaguely remember it. Low budget movie isn't it?

@SS Yeah. Did you watch it?
But good try. A Swamiji kills one girl to save another girl.

S S
@TheDestroyer Seven look alikes. Of them, two are born at the same time. They meet. Ide kada storyline.

5:06 PM
@TheDestroyer - Also there is movie in which person's gets Mobile message about their death & they do die ,but offcourse heroine survives & a famous ghost movie about a hotel room ,cant remember the names of two but i watched them On HBO & Star Movie's 📺 May be @AnkitSharma helps

@SS Yeah.

S S
No I didn't watch it.
@SwiftPushkar try remembering plot, description of the characters, year you watched. Then post an Identify this movie question on M&TV.

@TheDestroyer - oh , is it a real thing or just created for movie?
@SS - haha , that's a nice option , but only when google fails , i will try to find names ..wait ✋

@SwiftPushkar Don't know. Swamiji says Iswara doesn't make two persons to born at same place and time, even twins, but Iswara will take away one life if they meet each other. It's interesting. But no one can born at same place. Every point has unique latitude and longitude.

@TheDestroyer - oh ,ok , but its possible even chances are million 2 one & from same place i.e. astrology considers longitude & latitude of whole village or whole city as one & no precise calculations are considered 👍👍
@KeshavSrinivasan - Who is Vishnuswami of Rudra sampradaya?

5:25 PM
@SwiftPushkar Vishnuswami was an ancient Acharya belonging to the Rudra Sampradayam. He built the famous Kanchipuram Varadaraja temple. Vallabhacharya's followers claim that Vallabhacharya belonged to the Guru Parampara of Vishnuswami, but some people dispute that.

@KeshavSrinivasan - oh ok , according to one site -" It is even said that Vishnuswami was born in the Dravida country after the completion of the sacrifice of Janamejaya around the beginnining of Kali-yuga." , surprised to know that he belongs to that period - gaudiyahistory.iskcondesiretree.com/vishnu-swami

@SwiftPushkar lol
Anyway I don't know that

@SwiftPushkar Well, considering that he built the Kanchipuram Varadaraja temple, and the Alwars discuss the Kanchipuram Varadaraja temple in their poems, he must have lived a pretty long time ago. By the way, traditional Sri Vaushnava accounts say that the Alwars lived in the end of the Dwapara Yuga and the beginning of the Kali Yuga.

@AnkitSharma - That hotel room movie is abt.a haunted hotel room which they sealed off , but one customer insists they warn him but he still insists & experiences horrors , the room itself is a evil-spirit , but finally he came out , previously nobody does 😀

no idea

5:36 PM
@KeshavSrinivasan - oh ,Yeah ,I also was surprised to see that ,most Vaishnav saint's of Maharashtra are born after 12th century .Its amazing that some of the alwars are from those period , pretty long history 👍👍

@TheDestroyer Yeah Bhangarh fort in Rajasthan is thought to be a haunted place
@TheDestroyer Even in Kumbalgarh fort, there is an area where people are not allowed to enter after evening.
and villagers report that they hear some strange sounds and if anyone dares to enter, they won't return

@SwiftPushkar I watched 1408 on JioCinema

@ChinmaySarupria - oh ok 👍

5:42 PM
@SwiftPushkar @TheDestroyer But the moment you read Swami Vivekananda's Complete Works, all haunted places seems like spiritual gardens lol where you can go and meditate.

@ChinmaySarupria - Yes , downloaded that whole vol. but haven't gone through them , but will read later on , BTW what's it says about supernatural phenomenons?

@SwiftPushkar There was a haunted garden in America, people stopped him from going there but he went and meditated there for 1 hour. He met ghosts a lot more times, once he prayed that a ghost be released from earthly plane, he never saw that ghost ever again.

@ChinmaySarupria - Oh i see , thats wonderful power he had , so Swami Vivekananda personally took this experience , ok 👍👍
Ok all GN ,Bye Tc .. will sleep ..👍💐

@SwiftPushkar Good night.
@RakeshJoshi Hi
@RakeshJoshi Are you going to answer this question? If yes, ping me after answering.

@LakshmiNarayanan By the way, I emailed the proprietor of the agnim.com website to ask whether he had an English translation of the Sankarsha Kanda text found in those manuscripts, and he sent me an incredibly bizarre email in response. Apparently he's one of those New Age people who believe in Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
@LakshmiNarayanan I forwarded you the email.
