Are there any available manuscripts of Manasa, Sahyadri, Himavat, Patala, Ayodhya, Bhima, Mathura Khandas of Skanda Purana either in Sanskrit or any language?
@Tezz Sorry! I only downloaded 2 videos. I closed the software and thought to download after sometime but i forgot. I will mail those two videos now and other videos today.
@SwiftPushkar Same to you. I thought I am younger than you. I am just 21. So the respect.
What do you think about the question "How do I join this community?" The user didn't visit the site again. Did you vote the question? @SwiftPushkar @TheDestroyer
@SreeCharan i voted when it moved to meta. Question is fine in meta. We should give brief intro about SE sites and our site which @Pandya has already given.
@ABcDexter - by the way i have seen all the episodes of "Dexter's Laboratory" in hindi on pogo😀some time ago i used to watch only cartoon network & pogo
@TheDestroyer - 😊 they are buch of songs , by singer named smita , i think they are released by Ishana music , Jaggivadudev baba , videography is quite good , plus one Huge shiva linga is in video , i dont know from which temple
@KeshavSrinivasan @TheDestroyer @Tezz - There is one intresting name "KrishnaSagar" mentioned in shreemad bhagvatam , that might be this google.co.in/searchurl/… - i will give details later , verse
@KeshavSrinivasan @Tezz @Pandya @SwiftPushkar @SreeCharan @sv. I'm planning to post a meta question to ask members to include Sanskrit verses in their answers as a mandatory rule. This is to avoid improper translations. what do you guys think?
@TheDestroyer A good idea. But all answers may not be found on the internet. Some people answer after reading hard copies. Some use the site through tabs and mobiles where sanskrit can't be typed. All may not be a scholars in sanskrit. But quoting the shlokas if they can't type should be mandatory.
Quoting the specific chapter and verse should be made compulsory. If they can't quoe in sanskrit script.
@SreeCharan Yes. In some cases it's not possible. They can attach screenshot or photo. No need to be scholars. We can help them for Sruti related stuff as Sanskrit must for them. Experienced users can help them out.
@TheDestroyer Then it would be no problem. New users may find some trouble. Because SE sites have a different type of editor when compared with Quora, yahoo. That would be no problem see this question.
In the Mahābhārata, in which parva and chapter, does the Vidura-gītā begin and end?
What are its first and last verses along with their English translation?
What are some popular and useful verses from it?
I think Vidura-gītā is also known as Vidura-nīti.
@TheDestroyer I'm not sure I agree to that. English speaking users will want IAST or Kyoto because they can't read Devanagiri saying this is an English website so they can come up with up a rule saying "whenever you quote a Sanskrit verse in Devanagiri, also write the same thing in IAST or Kyoto" -- now the effect of all this is, answers will get too long to read. People need short and simple messages from our scriptures.
@TheDestroyer Rickross has taken it to new heights, he's putting images, OCR text, verses .. everything in his answers :) I'm having to search for his own lines where he explains .. :P
@TheDestroyer "Correct meaning or interpretation" - the onus is on the reader.
@TheDestroyer Check with Keshav if he wants to cite original verses in this answer :P
After she emerges from the Churning of the Ocean, Lakshmi examines the Devas, Gandharvas, Asuras, etc., to find a suitable husband. But she finds that they're all lacking in one or more good qualities, as described in this chapter of the Srimad Bhagavatam:

@TheDestroyer I am afraid that there would be another discussion on meta or in chat rooms by some users about this. Some users are not comfortable with "Cite your sources from scriptures" comment.
@sv. haha. But we need Sanskrit verses. We are not Sanskrit pundits but can spot easily some wrong translations. No. Onus is on us. What do you think when a purana says caste ? You generally think it as caste today. but it is Varna.
@KeshavSrinivasan Yes. you should remove inappropriate content from that answer where translator assumed all by himself. It is also better if you include Sanskrit verses.
@TheDestroyer I read a comment by @Sai somewhere saying he doesn't like Devanagiri only verses. He said there are many Westerners reading answers so they can't even read the Sanskrit letters. But he may have meant provide the translation too, not just the verse.
Every language encodes within it a unique culture and a world view. This site being an English site, our questions and answers are in English. But certain words lose meaning when translated to English.
For example,
Sin is not bad karma or paap
Atman is not soul
Jati-varna system is not caste ...
@TheDestroyer @sv. @SreeCharan - In my case i just wrote the sanskrit verses so that in future someone could use those verses , i gave images of shlokas just to show the similar words used in old times as well as the current word , (matching)
@TheDestroyer I think the user 'Sandeep' fought very hard to remove the 'mythology' tag and left. Poor guy. I don't understand why people are so particular that other people should use the right terminology that they think is 'right'.
I asked this question on Mahabharata and used a history tag. Someone added a mythology tag. I removed it and it was added back again.
Before I ask a question, I would like to give some background.
A myth is defined by Merriam-Webster dictionary as
an idea or story that is believed by many ...
@SreeCharan He is correct. Ja Dhatu means to born in Sanskrit. Jati related to birth. "Janma" related to birth. Jalaja means something born from Jala (water) which is lotus.
@SreeCharan I tend to use 'brāhmaṇa' instead of 'brahmin' -- but that doesn't mean I go around editing all answers and replace the Brahmin word. No use.

Every we time go to a temple, when the priest performs archana, he asks us our Gotra. Gotra states our lineage from the sages.
In some states of South India, Brahmins and Gouds have the same gotra like Koundinya gotra, Bharadwaja gotra. See this page.
What I want to ask is,
How is this poss...
@SreeCharan Yeah. Most of upvoted answers come from highly delude Jivas. But i like quora in one sense that when media rebukes Modi Government, Quora always praises him. :P Now-a-days, very few answers are good.
@TheDestroyer People may not take it correctly if you force them to use the right terminology. You can leave a comment under the Q or A pointing them to answer such as the following.
The caste system, as existing in modern India, is a degraded form of varnasrama. The Wikipedia article is full of western speculation, but the proper definition is given in Bhagavad-gita:
(God says)
Four [profesional] colorings were created by me, differentiated by qualities and activities. ...
@SreeCharan If you don't like VM's edits, you should rollback, else it will create an edit-war if one of us does it :) You can rollback then one of us can edit it.
@SreeCharan Yes. Explain using Sanskrit words. Use Varna if you want to know for Varna (Brahmin, Kashatriya, Vaishya and Sudra). Jatis come under Varna.
@SreeCharan For example, Reddy (kula or Jati) is believed to be Kshatriya Varna. Very few historians believe them as Vaishyas.
One request: Protect/lock the high voted posts/ famous posts, So that there won't be any spam answers. For example recently we all have seen bad things about Sita. So, please protect or lock them. Otherwise we will see more such answers which are against to our Hinduism.
