@Mr.TAMER Are you around?
02:25
Now I'm
Assalamu Alaikum :)
Check 3rd row, imperfect form. Why is it plural?
Or is it plural?
No it's not
But there is a ya noon ?
This is a verb, not a noun :)
NesreenA, why the concern about the Freemasonry proposal?
@NesreenA, why the concern about the Freemasonry proposal?
02:30
@Mr.TAMER ohh :)
It's nouns that are (regular) plural when they have ya noon
Ok, I am reading things from different places, and they didn't sink in yet :)
Thanks for the help.
Welcome, I'm always glad to help :)
@DanAndrews I think she was concerned about satanism one, but I am not sure.
Yeah, I hope she doesn't relate satanism with Freemasonry. That would be very concerning to me.
02:33
@DanAndrews: Are you freemason BTW?
And not very true at all. It is what I'm trying to debunk by having that SE
I am
@DanAndrews I was going to ask an example question there, but I wasn't sure if it was appropriate.
Freemason, Scottish Rite, York Rite, Shriner, etc.
I encourage you to
Nice, this is the first time I see a real freemason :D
:D
I have a post in here about Islam and Freemasonry
02:34
I'll see it it's better than Islam
@DanAndrews how does it look? "What is agenda of freemasonism, what is it trying to accomplish?"
What are you "huhhing" about? :D
"I'll see it it's better than Islam"
@yasar11732 I encourage you to post that. It is something the people wonder.
@Mr.TAMER You sounded like you said "freemasonry is better than islam", but I am not sure if you really meant it.
02:36
Just say, "Freemasonry"
not Freemasonism
Oh I missed, I meant "I'll see if it's better than Islam"
It is different and cannot be compared
it is like saying, what is better, an apple or a hammer.
@DanAndrews Sorry, my English sucks :)

Q: Freemasonry and Islam

Dan AndrewsTwo of my brothers are from Turkey, Muslim, and are also Freemasons. I am Christian and sometimes Christianity does not accept joining and sometimes forbids people from joining the fraternity. They are great men, intelligent, and faithful to their religion. Case in point, I had brats bratwurst...

So freemasonary and freemasonizm are different?
02:38
@yasar11732 your English is fine. It is just more common to just say Freemasonry
"Freemasonism" or "Freemasonizm" is never used
Ah I see
I am a Freemason. I worship one single God. I admire the religion of Islam and Judaism. I consider myself Christian, however that is because I believe in the teachings of Jesus. I feel that modern Christianity is not so good anymore... the focus is gone.
So... I maybe more Muslim in someways than some modern Christians
Do you know why it is called **free**masonry, is there a restricted masonry or paid masonry or something like that?
:) It is because you have to be Free Born - not born a slave. Freemasonry is very old, slavery was very common when it began.
You are also Free to think for yourself. There is no dogma in Freemasonry. So then, I can talk about Islam or any other religion w/o upsetting anyone - something not possible in a Church or Mosque
Where else can Muslims, Jews, and Christians discuss their religions with understanding and without getting upset? IMHO the "people" of the faiths need to talk to eachother, not the religious leaders of the faith - who have a vested interest in keeping us apart.
2
For example, my church would not want me to go to a Mosque. However I did. They would not want me to listen to more truth. Some people would not walk into a Mosque (or Church) because they are afraid. However, Freemasonry is a vehicle which allows us to understand each other w/o prejudice.
Sorry for hi-jacking the chat room :D
No worries, that happens sometimes :)
02:52
However, because of this, Christian church leaders (some of them) do not like Freemasonry because they are afraid that they can lose people. For example, in talking to my Muslim brothers from Turkey, I may receive more truth from them and convert to Islam. So then, my church leader would tell everyone that Freemasonry is bad so that nobody joins it.
So I have a question. There are biblical scholars which have found translations and miscopied text of the gospels. Which brings up the question of the Bible being inerrant. Is there similar problems with the Quran? I truly admire the way that Islam chose one version of the book and stopped the translations.
Sorry, I must have lost you two. Salaam
03:14
@DanAndrews No, there are no erros in Qur'an. There is a related question about this. Let me see if I can dig it up.
7
Q: Is it possible that the Quran contains any errors?

FlimzyIs it possible that the Quran contains any errors? Did Allah guard its writing, transcribing, etc, to ensure it was completely error-free? If errors are possible, to what extent might an error exist (i.e. could it contain only typos? Or might it contain a completely wrong/misunderstood teaching...

there was a question on textual criticism as well:
12
Q: Is Textual Criticism important to Islamic studies?

CalebMy background isn't in Islam it is in Christianity. This question has to do with how the fields of study and interpretation differ in their handling of texts. While the terminology I know to ask with may not be directly applicable, I'm asking specifically to learn what terminology is relevant and...

i think what it really comes down to is what you would consider an "error".
even with Uthman's canonical manuscript, there were variant readings.
but, in general, we consider all of them equally valid.
and as far as i know, they don't substantially change anything meaning-wise.
03:51
going through the self-evaluation right now.
04:18
@goldPseudo How is it going?
doing the internet piracy one right now.
which pits our answers against the likes of digitalislam.eu/article.do?articleId=2729.
which, unfortunately, makes it a -1 in my book.
the homosexuality question doesn't seem any better or worse than what i can get from googling.
04:44
ugh. first answer on the order-of-the-quran question is a cut-and-paste. :(
i want to delete it on sight as per policy, but i'm not sure if that would affect the integrity of the self-evaluation...
edited it to blockquote the text.
second answer is also cut-and-paste.
05:05
googling on the "different-translations" question brings up iiit.org/Research/ScholarsSummerInstitute/TableofContents/…
pitting our answer against that is tricky. ours is much simpler (and thus much more useful in a Q&A perspective), but the linked article brings up a lot of valuable detail that ours doesn't even touch on.
so i give that one a meh. not better, nor worse.
6 out of 10 done.
assalaamu 'alaykum @islam101
@goldPseudo mashaAllah you are good at critique :)
05:22
two of the questions are my own.
considering how rarely i post, i wonder how statistically significant that is :)
Heh, as far as I know I am the most asker but only one of my questions got selected :)
afaik, one of the criteria used in the "official" random post selector (when the SE team does the self-evaluation) is that the question needs to have been answered. so at least the one unanswered question wouldn't have made the cut.
i think there's also criteria regarding how recent the answer needs to be.
afaik, it selects questions from last 60 days, but we aren't even that old yet, so I think that is a problem for us.
I mean that is not a problem.
the kuffar post ends up pitted against renaissance.com.pk/octq22y1.html
our answer is good, but it doesn't look any better (or worse) than what's already out there.
05:51
googling the real-estate one brings up 360digest.com/can-muslims-be-real-estate-agents
all in all, 7 down 3 up.
(one down of which was the unanswered question)
not awesome, but frankly better than i was expecting.
considering how early we are in development.

i was one of the DVs. it is not a useful answer by any criteria i use.
dont mind
but i just like how fast people acted
thats one of the reasons this website works
i'm a bit baffled as to why the question itself got two upvotes. it's shows zero research effort.
but i'm rather critical about one-liner questions.
im must admit i always upvote newcomers
it encourages them to return
it's a fine line to tread. encouraging newcomers to return is nice, but encouraging them to post low quality questions not so nice.
i pretty much rely on other people to be nice and welcoming. i'm much better at being harsh and critical.

@NesreenA - you were absolutely right. Sorry for being defensive. It just troubles me when people think that Freemasonry is more than it really is - and you didn't even say anything about it at all! :) Salaam
i personally think downvoting is sufficient for low quality questions.
as long as they're real questions (on-topic and constructive).

SwatiBased on a discussion here and here, should questions that can be googled be disallowed?

@MarcGravell as muslims EVERYTHING we do refers to the holy Quran, as this is the only indisputable guaranteed source of truth, everything else is just guesses. Look at kuffar scientists talking about the change in weather, first it was global cooling, then global warming, now it's man made climate change... whereas as Muslims, we know this is all part of Allah's plan for " the land of the Arabs to once again becomes meadows and rivers". There are no 'realities of world events', only Allah's will. read the Quran and you'll understand the real 'reality'. — Muhammed J 2 mins ago

i think of cat-in the hat when i see your avatar a closer look shows a similar one
<----its actualy a nesreen flower
Ahhh
I didn't know that was a flower
yeah its persian -_-
it's nice
i always tell my parents a name should reflect religion or culture
so why name me somthing persian
and when I asked the guy to do my avatar, I asked him to make it like cat in the hat
21:09
i just took a picture of my face and hat and then cut most of it off.
you got somone to do it for you?
mysterious....
nope, i did it all by myself :p
i meant @p
ahh clicking the name dosent work
purfferet?
too lazy to edit
i just looked up nesreen but there were pictures of random facebook chicks, so then i added nesreen flower, still random facebook chicks calling themselves a flower then i looked up persian nesreen flower and found this
the name is more commen than the flower is
nasrin seems to be the more common spelling.
in arabic spelling is n-s-r-e-n
my dad chooses odd spellings anyway
alkam is sooo different from the arabic word
its more correct 3alqam
21:25
i can understand losing the `ain, but it really miffs me when i see 'q' spelt as 'k'.
علقم
my english teacher in 4th grade refused to use a k in my name
"buts its on my birth cetificate" didnt cut it
@goldPseudo I can't really tell the difference....
qaff and kaff are two different letters in arbic
the equivilant to qaff is q
ق or ك
makes a big difference
one accent can change a words meaning in arabic
welcome to the chat room @caleb
@NesreenA Selam
wa3alekum issalam
21:32
assalamu alaykum wa-rahmutAllah wa-barakatuhu
welcome to chat!
@NesreenA in english the q is always with a u, so it's pronounced like kw
hmm most people probable dont understand the "3" replacement...........wa'lakum assalm
yeah my 4th grade teacher spelled it alquam
just to make it clear ع in arabic looks like a 3
not all english words with a q are followed by a u. just the vast majority of them.
(and most of the u-less q's are loanwords, but still English insofar as they're in the dictionary)
list of words with q not followed by u: boardgames.about.com/od/scrabble/a/q_without_u.htm
funny thing is most are arabic words translated to english
arabs do love their q.
first word from the quran- iqra'
no u :)
that is if you think of the order it was sent down not the current order

@NesreenA this is my point :P

warning- she says very very inappropriate stuff, much is offensive to muslims
she is basically like hitler, super racist and hates every other religion in the world
and celebrities retweet her all the time talking about their hatred for her
@goldsuedo may be offensive to canadians- Before @justinbieber was famous Canada didn't exist. It was an irrelevant planet. No one knew about it until he told us.
22:04
I am not easily offended.
ummm every other tweet is waaay too dirty to retweet
i'm pretty sure we existed before the Bieb showed up anyway :p
and i'm still not convinced i've actually heard him sing.
um i belive there is one tweet that says muslims are such a waste of space im happy its ramadan maybe they will starve to death
Wow, sometimes I wish I could delete stuff in the internet :)
we're actually allowed to eat after sunset.
22:08
and disabled people are a waste of space we should kill them all
(sounds like hitle)
it's difficult to starve to death unless you're fasting for multiple consecutive days.
and even then, you're more likely to die of dehydration than starvation.
casey anthony ruled if i had a stupid daughter i will kill her and go party too

not i.
she killed her three yea old daughter to go to a party

many advertisers can look up your ip address and tell what country you're browsing from.
depending on isp, they may be able to pinpoint your city.
with ip adress they can have your 1rs language
22:50
does an ip adress come from the internet conection im using or the laptop itself
internet connection you're using.
from isp
ok that makes sense
it's not personally identifiable information.
isp generate an IP adress when you r log in internet
yes sure
