there is something you missed however, and that is, you either have to use every other line, or duplicate the lines and drag them to center. otherwise you're left with diamonds and triangles

or you could have generated the lines a bit differently. But hey if it works for you

I would also add: when making it in shape builder, use a different color (contrasted). because otherwise you don't know which ones are done and which aren't.

What are the other options?

duplicating and dragging them would require me to zoom in a bunch and go in outline mode to line up perfectly. (although takes a few extra sec, it's easier and more reliable to just select every other one)

When you sue the line tool you can alt click on the start point and type in lenght and direction in the dialog

You can do same for rotate

again alt clicking sets the point to rotate about then once you have made the lines in angles 30 90 150 use the move dialog to move the patterna fixed amount.

I was using the shear tool, not rotate.

either way... as you said, whichever way works for me. (regardless, I got the desired result in the end... and it's pretty simple and straightforward)
