300 simoleons is tiny. Unless your city is running on a shoestring budget you can easily correct that by adjusting taxes and/or reducing utilities

And checking your coffer is done by glancing at a number on your HUD. I'm not sure how anyone can miss that

Also, I figured if it was just building something for fun, browser support is less important than keeping skills sharp and up to date

@spugsley I have a Joby GorillaPod that I was using. Most of the other shots came out blurry. Well, the ones that actually captured fireworks.

I guessing a more sturdy tripod would have helped though.

@MBraedley yeah what's tricky about fireworks is you want a high shutter speed to freeze the movement but you're shooting in low light which usually requires a low shutter speed. Having a really stable tripod is really your best bet. You can set your exposure literally for seconds as opposed to fractions of seconds so that your camera is capturing before, during, and after the firework

@spugsley The longer shutter speeds allowed for too much camera motion (which is what caused the blurriness). Probably doesn't help that I attached to a railing as well.

I had it up to 1 sec, and even from the built in LCD, I could tell it wasn't going to turn out well.

@StrixVaria Shutter speed and aperture are both pretty easy to understand once you understand the fundamental way that cameras work, which is by letting light in.

Shutter speed lets more or less light in by exposing the picture for longer.

Aperture lets more or less light in by changing the size of the hole through which you take your picture.

@StrixVaria That's a thing you shouldn't even worry about early on. When you're getting started, you should basically aim to use the slowest shutter speed/smallest aperture at which your pictures come out properly exposed. As you increase the shutter speed (because your subject is moving), you'll need to increase the aperture to compensate. Once you get good at managing that balancing act, you can start experimenting and adjusting the two more independently.

@MBraedley I have this, it sucks! I don't get buzzed unless I drink a lot very quickly and then keep that pace up, else I lose the buzz, but if I then do that, I end up very, very miserable and sick. On top of that I also take meds with which I can't process alcohol well, which on top of my genetic suckiness, it ends up just better for me not to get drunk in general.
