Does anyone here have a Kindle Fire? Sorry to go off-topic there.

I ordered one, but I'd like someone's opinion on it who owns it.
@Wip
@Wipqozn Oops. I meant to say Thanks for the link.

I haven't been having any ME3 multiplayer disconnects on PC, but my friend I play with gets them nonstop
Of course, about 12 seconds after I say that, Origin crashes

@Wipqozn OK, I see. So it's just a temporary thing

Q: Is it best to always interrupt people?

johnjonFrequently when having conversations with various colorful (literally) characters the option appears to interrupt them with either a Paragon or Renegade action. Obviously, I'm a commander with a lot on his plate and don't always want to wait for the other guy to stop yapping. On the other hand, I...

@LessPop_MoreFizz that's a new one on me

I see it all the time. Though more in the past tense (nurfed) for some reason.

I must not play enough online games with 12 year olds to hve heard it

chandsI dug a large room to specifications, 3 blocks tall and 16 blocks wide as well as long. I dug it at 10 levels above bedrock, in a location {(-240, 0) -> (-224, 16)} specified by this slime finder app. I am definitely more than 24 blocks away and less than 32 away from the spawn room, as specified...

Q: Skyrim Easy enchanting skill

DragonordI'm trying to grind to 100 Enchanting skill. Will enchanting an item heavier than an Iron Dagger net more experience?

thats a dupe fuck mobile search etc.

it was fun, but I wouldn't have paid full price for it myself...thank you Gaming.SE

someone cast the first close vote for me, thanks

Must...get...close...privs...

@LessPop_MoreFizz Are you sure? I can't find a dupe.

@TimStone answer ME3 question = max daily rep :P

1:35 AM
Although my initial thought is also that it is a dupe.

Pretty sure we have a 'how do i level enchanting' dupe somewhere

well, it was that way before, it seems to be tapering off someway

@LessPop_MoreFizz closest I could find was this: gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/36017/…

What happens if you go over your daily rep?

which is... not quite the same thing.

1:36 AM

@BenBrocka Yeah, on my NG+ playthrough trying to pick up screenshots for anything remaining that needs them. :P

do u just get the remaining rep the next day?

@Portali5t you get a max of 200 rep from votes per day, and you "lose" the excess

user15026
@Portali5t Nope. You hit 200, that's it.

Ohh. crap :(

1:37 AM
it's so a single super popular question doesn't shoot you to a crazy high privilege level ect
and also to encourage you to do something other than post on SE all day I assume

makes sense, but its flawed.

(which I suppose it's not great at)

user15026
Unless you get a bounty or an accept.

@BenBrocka accepted answers still count though

@Portali5t no it's just lost forever.

user15026
1:37 AM
@Portali5t How so?

I hit 400 rep consistently on the first week of ME3.

@RavenDreamer I disagree. They appear different at first glance, but they are asking the same thing. What's the cheapest way to level enchantment.

Accepts, bounties ect still win
@RavenDreamer I got around 600 two days in a row, fun times

Going to cast a close as duplicate vote, and let the community work the rest out.

@Wipqozn One is asking if enchanting different objects gives different values of XP. The other is asking the least expensive way, gold-wise, to do that.

1:40 AM
@RavenDreamer I believe this is a case where both questions are similiar enough that if one question covers both answers, then they should be closed as dups.

@AshleyNunn I think that there should not be any kind of restriction if you're getting rep from different places or different questions. I like the idea of a limit, but it should be more precise and try to solve the problem without creating more.

A: How many skill points will I have at level 20?

Portali5tYou will have 84 skill points at level 20 of Mass Effect 3, if none are spent already. Sources: http://www.gamerswithjobs.com/node/111356 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mass_Effect_3 Personal experience- I own the game and play the multiplayer frequently.

Is it just me, or should this be a comment?

@Portali5t Could be, but it also answers the question.

1:42 AM
Yes, by saying i'm right. ;)

hmm, so what do the Reapers do with the Geth?

yeah, but after i did, and i was referring to the "portali5t is correct...)
It should probably be a comment on my answer.

@RavenDreamer I don't think saying "that other answer is right" answers the question. That's an up vote, not an answer.

It answers the question and provides a detail that wasn't in your answer (an idea of how one could spend those 84 points). I see no reason to change it.

OK.

1:43 AM
> incidentally 84 points is enough to fully upgrade 4 abilities as long as no points are spent on the fifth.

That's what starring is, taking things out of context.

@AshleyNunn And, if the downvotes result in the answer being deleted, you get your rep back! (yay!)

user15026
@RavenDreamer Which is a lovely bonus :)

I didn't know that!
Cool!

1:46 AM
We're not downvoting because were crabby crabapples, we're downvoting because we want to deter future low-quality additions and show that this addition is low quality to begin with.

@LessPop_MoreFizz I didn't even think there were 8 active chatters in the room. O.o

Also, downvotes on questions are free!

My downvote advocacy brings all the boys to the yard

Well, one person wrote a blog post on that.

that's just ridiculous.

Tony Meyer on March 01, 2012

Jeff Atwood, one of the founders of the StackExchange network, chose to mark his last (day-to-day) day at the company with a post disparaging identification questions.  As Jeff pointed out in his post, the story-identification tag is the second most common on our site right now, so I’d like to point out why our community feels that these are a valuable part of the site, where we disagree with Jeff’s viewpoint, and hopefully give you a bit better understanding of how decisions about what’s on-topic are made (and then re-made, and re-made, and …). …

@Portali5t Eh, no worries. Just makes it nicer when people have multiple conversations going. Took me a bit to learn that one, too.

> Actually, while the StackExchange engine is great at some types of question that aren’t generally suited to the sites (e.g. polls), I find that there are many problems with using it for story identification,...

I don't like downvoting because of the people that overuse the tool and use it to annoy.

> However, even though these aren’t a great fit with the StackExchange engine, they are a valuable part of our site, and they’re better than the current best the Internet has to offer...

@William No.

1:50 AM
@AshleyNunn Yeaaaaah...

We use it to deter bad quality content.
And to point out bad content.
We don't downvote just to annoy.

user15026
@William Overuse? Oh, no, it does not get used enough.

That's ludicrous.

No, thats what flags are for.

user15026
@William No, not for everything

1:50 AM
@William, @Portali5t you two know each other?

Some new users who don't know how to use the tool properly will use it too much.

that is what downvoting is designed for- to eliminate shit. Some Tr0LL5 use it to annoy, but they get eliminated quikly

@William the correct solution to improper downvotes is to counter them directly with upvotes, and counter them indirectly with proper downvotes that peoperly sort good from bad content.

@RavenDreamer Kind of... We just know each other via SE

Flags are for eliminating outright garbage. Downvotes are more about seperating the stuff that's merely not very good from the stuff that's great.

@William That's true, but it's also part of the system that should be used. It was built for a purpose.

Hi.

user15026
@William They might have had their own reason. And that is how the system works - it is intended that votes are anonymous, and people don't -have- to explain themselves.

@William Due to how vague the question is you don't have enough detail to answer the question.

1:54 AM

I'm going over to her place to finish off the pie remnants from Pi Day soon-ish.

@William Yes, but if you had more information it could turn out your answer is completely wrong. That's my point. Due to how vague the question is you really can't offer the OP any solutions. You're just guessing.

@William You also got 13 upvotes. So you got a net +128 rep.

user15026
1:56 AM
@Wipqozn Yeah. It is an unfortunate thing, but true nonetheless - I can work for hours on an answer, but if it is wrong, or unhelpful, or completely vague, or just a guess, then it might be a bad answer. And then people will probably downvote me. Which means the system is working as it should.

That's pretty good.

It's llike downvoting a question because it's poorly written. Don't downvote, instead edit and improve the post to set an example for the new user.
Yes, i'm not arguiing that.
But, I was using it as a case in context for a downvote for no reason.

user15026
@William There is only so much you can do though - if the post is incomprehensible, or utter garbage, it might not be with the editing effort.

And if your'e gonna downvote, at least leave a comment.

I'm not sure what point you're trying to prove with that, though.

1:57 AM
That's the least you can do.

Are you saying comments should be mandatory when downvoting?
That's a bit silly.

I agree that it's good practice to leave comments when down voting, but it shouldn't be required.

No, I;m saying out of courtesy to others leave a comment.

the little numbers below someones photo are their total rep right/

So you get the annoying downvote on legitimate content sometimes. Big deal. People are jerks.
It happens to everyone.

1:58 AM
+1 for "People are Jerks"

Just remember that down votes only produce -2 rep. You would need at least 5 down votes to negative the rep bonus from one up vote.

@Portali5t Correct.

Never hath more true words been spoken.

user15026
@Wipqozn On an answer. :)

So don't get too worked up about the odd down vote every now and again.

user15026
1:59 AM
@Portali5t Yup! :)

@AshleyNunn You rebel.

Correct.

@William Downvoting is annonymous, there's checks in the system to prevent abuse, costs rep to the downvoter for answers, and you need to hit a certain rep point to even downvote to begin with, ntm everything you downvote, you get a popup asking you to leave a comment, I see no more improvements to the system that can be made

I'm saying that sometimes a downvote isn't the best option.

user15026
@Wipqozn Hey, I am just speaking the truth! Unless you have crazy alien math.
