Hi, ltnc :)
I just watched Quollism talk. The exr normalize thing sounds odd, and also the problem of the overexposed, sun which he attributes to the camera's poor DR...
I bet you can never get the sun "well exposed" unless you kill the hell out of it with a ND filter.
Tricky thing to do with a camera with two wide angle lenses like those I guess.

@Gez Was that Quollism?
@Mareck I am going to add it to the question

@troy_s Oh, no. I just checked again and it looks I was wrong. There was a Quollism's slide on screen and I took it as it was presenting the next speaker
But checked again and Quollism is S J Bennet, and the guy giving the cheap HDR talk is Thomas Radeke

@troy_s yes of course, it was made for that.
@Mareck Make more.
@Mareck There is a large and growing body of commercial work, but nothing that can be shown in public.
@troy_s from now I will only make renders with WDR workflow no way I can come back ^^
Next stop understand LUTs
I go to bed, too early since too long. See you.
Night!

@troy_s Hi, just a little mistake, mareck is with "ck", and if you want you can add a link to my website: studios-cad.fr/index.html
14:42
@Mareck Fixing. Thanks.
15:15
@troy_s I'm not completly satisfied with the celling, the bathtube and the light of the bulb but it's a first sucessfull WDR render, next ones will be better hopefully.
@Mareck Decide when to turn "this project" into "the next project"
@Mareck Didn't really notice the ceiling.
@troy_s not sure what you mean, but when I speek about next ones it will be new scenes.
@Mareck It was that old adage "Know when to put the brush down".
Ah ok ^^, yes it's hard to do.
@Mareck Which is about the potential for a never-ending obsession with a piece.
@Mareck Very.
@Mareck I try to encourage folks that end up looping / circling to "Great idea! Put it into the next project!"
15:27
@troy_s I can be obsessed but I heal myself.
@Mareck After all, it isn't like anyone has ever cranked out an image and gone "This is great!"
@Mareck It is hard. Worse when you learn something or spot something after the fact.
@Mareck I typically am pretty damn careful about copy, but I missed a damn typo on something (it was a grammatical error that someone made, so it slipped past spell checks) and of course someone on YouTube spotted it.
@Mareck Just makes one cringe and want to curl up and start sucking their thumb.
Yes right, and with this project because we don't have VCM in cycles it's really long before not having to much noise, so there was a lot of guess for precise setup.
Need to restart my computer, come back.
@Mareck Will be interesting to see how Lukas' noise suppression works on wider dynamic images.

@pixelpoems.de You surviving? Were you able to make progress?
@pixelpoems.de I realized your answer to the OCIO command line environment variable didn't get answered because no one was able to diagnose what operating system you are on. It is quite trivial to set the OCIO configuration from the command line.
@cegaton Did you see the rather interesting problem with a shadow rendered as alpha?
@troy_s I have not. I've been quite busy lately.
@cegaton Work!
@cegaton Anything interesting?
Anyways, regarding shadows (or white) the issue is very interesting.
Next time someone is trying to can a shadow into an image...
17:04
@troy_s I'm editing a documentary that will need tons of green screen compositing and a few fun animations in blender.

1 hour later…
18:07
@cegaton Frightening.
@cegaton You tasked on that alone?
@cegaton What camera? There's some pretty decent ways to make pulling keys easier off of the footage, depending on how you decode it.

Alpha, Alpha, a kingdom for an associated Alpha!

@aliasguru LOL. Welcome.

@oblomov Have you profiled recently with 3.2 or so DisplayCAL?
