So, more Corvette drama this weekend. I started hearing a pretty band grinding / rubbing / wompa-wompa sound from the RR on Friday. Feeling certain that I was looking at a wheel bearing, axle or (ugh) a transaxle, I pulled the car into the recently-cleaned garage, jacked it up and went to remove the wheel. Only to find four lug nuts were completely missing.
The only remaining one was the locking nut. My best guess is that some genius decided to steal my wheels and forgot their lock nut extractor socket.
Fortunately, I happen to have 19 black lug nuts sitting in a box. I had to cut one off a few months ago, and you can't buy these individually.
On the upside, turns out that I really didn't need an alignment. :) Just some nuts and torque.
