@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Here in the UK certain things have to have an appropriate certificate - which of course can only be issued by someone with the right licence. Basically anything gas-related (which I wouldn't touch anyway!), electricals involving kitchens, bathrooms or the main circuit breaker, and, for some reason, windows.
if you've not got the certificate, good luck trying to sell the house later...

@NickC - I get yah. That seems like overkill to me. If an inspector comes in and finds the work to code, whether done by a professional or not, what difference does it make? I would bet changes to "things" in the house happen all the time which nobody has a clue about except for the home owner. I know I'd be doing it on the downlow.
@3Dave - Saved me a ton of money and still got it done right.

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 I'm going to look into the local laws and see what the situation here is. I mean, as long as you get an inspection & pass, why would it be an issue?

@3Dave - Yah, just so long as it doesn't cause you issues later on.

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 So, the horn on the Corvette hasn't worked since I bought the car. I swapped relays and the fuses are fine. I haven't had time or motivation to really dig into it and find the problem. A little while ago, though, I parked and walked away, the car locked itself (as usual), but this time the horn honked. First time ever.
Probably because of the rain. :)

Never look a gift horse in the mouth ;-)

Right?
