@SolarMike - Why did you delete your answer? You gave him the right information whether he wanted to follow it or not. If he did follow it and the coil didn't fire, that would tell me the coil is bad; get a new one.

1:35 AM
@Zaid - For you, Bro!
New Jafromobile vid! :o) Happy days!

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Well, undeleted now and added a bit of info - and borrowed your bit about "not working - replace"... Just spent two mins looking for how to reply on here - bottom part of window was hidden below the edge of the screen - and there was me thinking I was computer literate ... what an ID10T ! Hopefully he will have a spark now and should be good to go. You give "free" advice - if they had to take it to a shop and pay...

@SolarMike - I get yah ...
Thanks for undeleting it.

@SolarMike I've had that issue (hidden reply line) on Safari and Chrome on my phone and iPad.
Blue car comes back from the body shop today with a nice shiny new front bumper. just need to swap some parts over to the GXP, get SOS detailed and put it up on the auction block.

3:37 PM
FYI - I've trimmed a bunch of comments on the coil questions because they were out of date and getting a little heated.

@BobCross - Works for me.
@3Dave - Are we going to have to create a tag?
I ordered a set of injectors for the Civic off of eBay on Saturday. I thought they might be in by the end of the week. Got here today, woot! Put them in and the engine runs golden. Smooth as silk. I still need to find the oil leak, but I have narrowed it down to the front oil seal (hopefully) or the oil pump (painfully). We'll see. I'll start pulling that part of it apart tomorrow and hopefully have it back together by Friday.
Anyway, I guess that's one step forward. All of the r134a has leaked out of it (absolutely no pressure in the system at all) while it was sitting. I' bought a can of dye/sealant as well as enough regular to fill the system. I'll be working on that as soon as I get the oil leak fixed. Then the car will be in fairly good mechanical shape. I need to replace some suspension parts in the rear which I'm pretty sure have worn out. Typical wear parts for Civics. Debating on putting something ...
... slick in or keeping it stock (new oem parts). Performance aftermarket parts for the Civic are uber cheap. I'll probably just go that route.

10:38 PM
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 ha. Funny. Everything I drive breaks. I hate discovering new and creative failure modes.
Cool re: injectors. Still no luck on the dye and the pil
leak? That makes no sense.

Oil leak. I hate touchscreens.

I've narrowed it down

Is there a second oil reservoir? :)

I just want to know for sure before I start buying parts.
The secondary oil reservoir is in the head ... there's puddles just under the cam which it passes through as it goes around. Pretty cool, actually.

10:41 PM
I’ve used the dye successfully on three vehicles. If you put enough in, have an actual UV light, and the filter / goggles, there’s no reason (I can think of) that you wouldn’t be able to trace the leak.

Like I said, I've narrowed it down significantly. I just have to pull everything apart before I will know for sure.

Puddles under the cam. Huh? Like, leaking at the head / block interface?

@3Dave Nothing leaking there. Just normal operations.

Alrighty. Could be worse. I disabled somebody’s engine by reading their ROM last week.

@3Dave - Holy crap. That sux.

10:43 PM
I fixed it, but it was a nailbighter.
Biter?

Yah, when you first did it, I bet you thought you bricked it, eh?

Yes.

That is UBER scary

Thought I was about to buy a 1200 mile tow, at minimum.

10:44 PM
Probably would have had to slept in the car while being towed since that would’ve blown my trip budget by a few grand.
Apparently, the vendor has some code that causes chaos if you download the firmware from the car. Pretty clever. And stupid. And lame. Assholes.

@3Dave - Concur with your last ...

It there codes for coolant level (fine), steering angle sensor (not touched), and a few other things. Cleared it and reflahed with the same fole
file I pilled
from the car and it works fine.

Awesome. Was receiving part happy with the mod?

That’s the funny part. I was just reading the ROM.

Oh, gotcha
Who'dathunkit?

10:48 PM
No mods, just getting a copy before tweaking. And it went nuts. You need a vehicle-specific license ($$) to write to the ECU / ECM / whatever. Which we did not have.
Didn’t change a thing - and it went crazy.

Like you said ... stupid

Yep. Sort of impressive, but still.
Dinner time. Someone made curry. Wish me luck. (“Once more unto the breach, my friends...”)

Later buddy!
Enjoy the curry :)
Love it myself.
