So, I need (well, want...) to buy a pickup truck. Do I go for a 10-year-old Hilux that's right at the very top of my budget, or an older one for half the price, or something else? Mazda BT50 (aka Ford Ranger)? Mitsu L200? Nissan Navara? Anyone got experience of any of those?
Newer Land Rovers are too expensive, unfortunately :( Needs to get fairly decent MPG, and be reliable/cheap-ish to run...

@NickC I regularly drive a Navara, with air suspension and manual gearbox. I like it. It blew a glow plug twice, the turn radius is rather high, the rest is fine

@NickC - I bought my '06 Silverado in 2010 (IIRC). It had high mileage on it for the year, but everything else was in great shape. There was no way I could purchase a new one, even today. Buying a used one, even with more mileage, is not a bad way to go. For me, I paid less than 1/2 of the original cost of the vehicle ($16k used vs. $36k new). Don't go vehicle poor when buying a vehicle. Get something you can afford, for sure.
Trucks (yes, even your wonky UK versions) are going to stand up to a lot of abuse and punishment and are well worth the investment, even if they're used (or shall we say, well loved :o)

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 It'll have to be used, there's no way I could afford a new one! My budget is around £4-5k, depending on how much I can sell the Land Rover for...
@Myself What age Navara?

@DavidLively wouldn't that be cool though, if they used drone swarms to ship larger products
shipping could be calculated off of distance * number of drones to carry * rate

@NickC - I was sort of concurring with you ... I think used vehicles no matter what the vehicle is, is the way to go. Trucks seem to last longer because they're used harder. Don't be afraid of buying a used one is the main thing here. You'll find out two things: 1) it will last you a good long while; 2) they tend to hold their value no matter the mileage.

@NickC Unsure, 2012 or 2014.

@Ceshion yep, could be pretty slick. It’ll happen, just a matter of time.
At this point, everything we thought was ridiculous ten years ago is a foregone conclusion wrt implementation.
But, calculation is off - you have to consider flight time (battery) for two drones vs one, and there’s some overhead per drone. then, there’s wind resistance. They could draft like NASCAR (I freaking hate NASCAr
), but that make the math slightly more involved.
This is technician crap. We’re engineers. outsourced
