@Zaid - Um ... Sure? :o)

I've been editing a lot of questions lately. The quality of the questions asked has gone up a few notches, I'm impressed!

A: Why didn't Air India always fly DEL-SFO over the Pacific?

Michael SeifertIn addition to the other answers, it's worth pointing out that the jet stream does not stay in a constant location above the Earth, but shifts and meanders over the course of weeks and months. Here's a great video from NASA showing these shifts over a 30-day period: ...

Sigh. How come Aviation.SE can embed YouTube and we can't?

Tanks! Honestly, it does "creep me out" a bit when I get hits on stuph I typed in an Ephidrine haze years prior. It's as if aliens are hovering, saying "Oh yes, planet scheduled for complete annihilation... but props too that one guy that knows about the Borgward Isabella Princess edition... (Seriously, I almost took it home for free... my pathos knows no bounds...)

Hello everyone

A: If I have a 58% chance of winning a point, what's the chance of me winning a ping pong game to 21, win by 2?

whuberThe analysis is complicated by the prospect that the game goes into "overtime" in order to win by a margin of at least two points. (Otherwise it would be as simple as the solution shown at https://stats.stackexchange.com/a/327015/919.) I will show how to visualize the problem and use that to br...

Wow, if we could only get answers like this one ;-)
@Zaid - Hola :o)

2:22 PM
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 What's cooking?
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 I saw that one... epic answer

@Zaid - Nothing much. Today is my compressed day off ... I'm back to a regular schedule for a few weeks (not on shift work), so I've reverted. What's crazy about shift work is, I got used to it very quickly. Getting all of the time off is pretty awesome.
Always having three and four day weekends is very addictive.
I'm headed to the bank in a few.
With a stop at the convenience store to get some Diet Dew, of course :o)

I'm battling a chronic air-conditioning unit.

@Zaid - What's going on?
(or not going on, in this case :o)

2:38 PM
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 it smells when the AC is running

That's strange ... some kind of mold or something in the ducting?
Central air?

No it's a split unit

Only one unit with the issue and not the other? So, 1/2 of the house gets stinky?

I've run the evaporator through with one of those mold-neutralizing foam sprays. No dice
Which means that the blower fan is the source of the stench

Something crawled up in there and died? Maybe one of those cats you were keeping off or your cars?

2:43 PM
Lol

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Split units are named such because the noisy half of the refrigeration system is outside the house (compressor, condenser) and the other half is inside (evaporator)
Brb

You all must have some mighty efficient A/C units in your neck of the woods for them to function well at all.
Anyway, headed to the bank and 7-11 ... be back in a bit.

3:13 PM
It isn't uber cold outside (it's in the 40's F), but it's so humid it feels like it's well below that ... brrrrrrrr

3:38 PM
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 quite frankly I'm annoyed by this whole your AC must have a 5-star efficiency rating for it to be sold in the market. The adage "penny-wise, pound-foolish" springs to mind

I like being in a country where AC is not needed, aside from offices
I would like to find a sensible way to remove it from my car, but it looks too much effort for too little return
And I'd still need a heater unit for the winter

@RoryAlsop you could at least just do a compressor delete?
depends on the car but I know several have idle pulleys you can just put in in place of the compressor

I didn't know that - I'll find out about it

something like this:
or if there's a separate A/C belt just take it off

day 104 of Sky ownership: discovered the driver seat height is electronically adjustable

1 hour later…
7:25 PM
Did you go up, down or just bounce for a while?

7:39 PM
@RoryAlsop and it’s still handy to have the AC as a dehumidifier

@Ceshion - BWAT!!! We own an '08 Hyundai Azera. We bought it new. Six months after we bought it, we were still discovering stuff about it we didn't know existed ... for instance, I was looking down by the shifter one day ... hmmmm, what does this button do? ... Rear window screen goes up. Oh Sweet!

8:37 PM
I burned my finger lightly and holding it in a cup of cold water while typing this, hooray!

@Myself - Hopefully it's not a bad burn ... I hate it when that happens!

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 nah, just some white spots..

"just"
;-)
I guess as long as you don't lose a finger, all's good.

I had the luck to touch the only 10cm wide hot spot on a metal serving plate
defintely should play lottery today :)

9:31 PM
@Myself - Wow, sounds lucky to me ;-)

2 hours later…
11:53 PM
@BobCross well - we don't really have humidity in the same way other countries do. It's either raining or it isn't.
