@BobCross @RoryAlsop My Forester is still losing coolant (after replacing the rad before Christmas) - header tank dropped from 'max' to 'min' after a 150 mile round trip. My fear is that a headgasket went - does that sound likely? Any suggestions on the best way to check? Googling suggests that a compression test isn't a reliable indicator on these engines, and is a PITA to do...

@NickC it is certainly something highly tuned subarus are known for... :-(
