anyone have any comment about this amazon.com/gp/product/B000CJ24YY/…
like will it most likely require messing with factory OEM wires?
it is an automatic timer headlights kit

"Directed Electronics 545T Nite-Lite System D" ping me thanks

@William - As far as the night light auto switch goes, if it works well, it would be awesome. I like it on my vehicles which came with it (factory installed). One thing I particularly like is the "if the windshield wipers are on, it switches the lights on" aspect. I believe every car should have this feature built in. Headlights on while it's raining is very much a safety item in my book.
The reviews seem pretty positive.
Anyway, I'm back to working on this new block I got.

new block
not sure what you mean
Well good luck
if its car related I am most likely not to much help

@William - Call it a replacement block. For the engine which goes in my 91 Z28 (350 Small Block Chevy)

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 I was a little confused about the flat tappet/roller cam part, I hadn't heard those terms before, at least in English, from a quick search they seem like the parts that reach the valves? I thought the block would have the holes for those already in the right measures? What did you mean with drilling it?
sorry for taking a while to answer, haven't been able to log in often enough here :p

@IanC - This has to do with the camshaft.
Each (roller tappets versus flat tappet) has a slightly different setup as far as how they are "contained" (I guess I'd say).

hey @Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 -- you might recall me from poking your head into DIY.SE chat on occasion :)

@Shalvenay - Not sure, but hello :)
@IanC - The above are roller tappets.
@Shalvenay - How can I help you?

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 figured I'd bite the bullet and ask on MV.SE about the one weird problem the family vehicle here sports....

@Shalvenay - Sure :o)

Q: How do I (permanently repair this) door?

ThreePhaseEelThe family vehicle out here is a 2010 Buick Lucerne. About two years ago, the left front inner door handle failed and was replaced. Ever since then, every few months, the left front inner door handle has failed again. Fortunately, our mechanic has been good to his word and has replaced the fai...

OH! gotcha
I read the question already, but I'm not quite sure I understand what you're asking.

trying to ask "how can we stop this door from eating inner door handles every few months?"

I'm taking it the door latch is having issues?

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 yup

What happens to it when it dies?
Breaks, whatever.

11:40 PM
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 just edited that into the Q
and thx for the tags btw

@Shalvenay - I don't know for sure, but it would seem to me there might be an issue with the linkages inside the door. Maybe they aren't aligned correctly or they aren't being contained correctly?
If the linkages were not contained correctly, they could be aiding in the handle having to pull the load, then ultimately causing it to wear out and go screwy on you.

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 that could very well be. wonder if there are any door-handle-rigging-experts floating around this Stack :) who might be able to give a detailed answer though, something that we can print and hand to the mechanic and go "hey, try checking X, Y and Z"

@Shalvenay - Probably not. My suggestion is to find a schematic of the interior door workings and see if the linkage going from the handle to the door latch has something holding it in place like I'm describing. Without seeing the interior of the door, it would be hard to come up with an answer for you.
Have you done any checking to see if anyone else with your year of Lucerne has the same problem?

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 I have not

It may be something to take a look at ...
You still there @IanC ?

11:56 PM
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 sorry, I'm doing some home work, so I was afk for a while

@IanC - No worries. I can hopefully explain stuff, but if you're busy doing homework, I can wait until another time.

I'd like to understand it, I just might take a while to answer here but I'll be reading what you write

I'll see what I can do ... however, it works better with interaction.
