Good night great people of the PIT! I hope your evening/night/morning ... oh heck ... Just be well. :o)
@DacidSalin - I just looked at your profile ... you're from Lewis & Clark County? I grew up in Libby and graduated HS in Missoula. Small world. How is the great NW??

Q: How much oil remains after draining and if significant, how should I get it out?

James WilsonGarage recently put some cheaper oil(comma xtech) in engine(because engine had no oil in it) and although it met acea spec for car, it was running noticeably worse(felt sluggish) than what I was originally running(motul). I've just done a drain and put previous motul back in and although it's im...

This surely looks like a duplicate ... I know we've had question(s) like this before, but my cursory glance didn't turn anything up ...

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 The biggest problem now with broken fingers is that the rest of my hand is sore, probably from holding the injured digits out of the way while typing.
@Myself I've found that adding kids increases parenting difficulty on the order of O(2^n), where n is the number of kids. Have fun. (I don't have a favorite, but it's my daughter.)

2:36 PM
@3Dave - "Myself" is now @Martin ... just an FYI
@3Dave - Gwen?

2:52 PM
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Ah. Hi, @Martin. It's probably time to increment my ID, as well.
Yep, Gwen. We just have the one girl.
:)

3:08 PM
The sun came out! Woohoo! (Who am I kidding. The storm is probably just taking a break to refill.)

@3Dave - I completely get it about daughters. I love my sons, but my daughter will ALWAYS hold that special place in my heart.

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Yep. :) I have a feeling we'll all still be calling her "Baby Gwen" when she's a grown woman. (Insert "nobody puts Baby in a corner" meme here.)
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 I voted to close as a duplicate.

@3Dave - That was a classic ... well it is now that Swayze is passed and it's like 30 years old.

A: BMW 320d B47 2014+ Did they fix the timing chain failure on the B47?

Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2My understanding looking at this Wikipedia page is the B47 didn't show up in the BMW 320d until 2015. It is true the N47 (the B47 predecessor) had timing chain issues, but the was fixed/mitigated early on (it also depends on who you listen to or what you read on the internet). After the mitigatio...

Long standing question down.

@3Dave I believe you, it won't become easier. Fortunately we both have still parents that are able to help us. Mine live near us, so we regularly bring the kids over. Also being in the country makes it easier, as they can play around in the outdoors

@Martin - Respite is always a good thing. Grandparents make that awesome :o) That is until they spoil them to death and then give them back ... argh.

It is fascinating: It doesn't matter how mad the kids are, as soon as we open the door outdoors they are calm.
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 My mom is as strict to them as she was to me :)

9:00 PM
@Martin - Then she's silly, lol! Pay back your kids for all the heartache they brought on you ... maybe you were the perfect child though, so no payback necessary ;)

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Mom told me I nearly caused her to run around screaming :)

@Martin - Meh, all Moms do that though :o)

9:25 PM
I am planning to install new lights in my parents garage. Because I was not sure about the amount of lights needed I am installing now a builder calculation program. I am sure this cracking a nut with a sledgehammer, but I won't take risks :)

@Martin - Are talking inside the garage lights?

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Yes

Are you going to use LED lights?
There are ones which replace fluorescent 5' bulbs (the long round tubes)
They look pretty awesome. Lots of light. Little power usage.

For the garage yes, the workshop will still have fluorescent lights

LED's have come a long way
You can daisy chain them as well.

9:33 PM
The garage has frequents on-offs so LED lights are needed. The workshop just needs a strong light, the cost-lumen relation is still unmatched for fluorescent tubes
Granted the power consumption is higher, but they won't get used very much
Do you think that LED lights are also better suited for the workshop?

Yah, I can imagine. Your return on investment would take a long time before you'd break even.

@Martin @Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 I have LED tubes in my shop / office. They work great. Best mod I did was to point them UP. Indirect lighting is awesome. (Works best if you have a white or highly reflective ceiling.)

@3Dave - That sounds awesome. I'm going to get some 5' replacement bulbs for the two fluorescent lights I have in the garage, then get some extra ones to put in as well. I want to really light up my garage.

@Zaid - Jafromobile!
