@HDE226868 I'm sort of the opposite. I'd almost prefer not to know my time. My best races were where there were no timers and I could not let my mind talk me out of the pace I was running. My best 5 mile time in x-country in college was in the mid 29's. But 2 weeks after season ended, I ran a 4 miler in 20:59, there was no timer at any mile point (midnight new years eve run).
 
:48653321 That's a pretty wild change. But you're right; if you can focus on pace internally and get into a rhythm, you can have a really good race.a

@HDE226868 My best performances have always come when I was able to just get out of my own head. Every sport.
