@User1865345 maybe it's just the circles I run in, but this did (and still is) receiving at least as much attention online as the Nobel Prize
 
In general, that's the nature on online attention.
Or perhaps, I should say online distractions.

@pentavalentcarbon I don't know what to say here. The prof is experienced. He is 84. At this stage, because of allegedly bad grading and hard classes, you would take such an action - that is bonkers.

The pandemic has intensified politics.
 
Interestingly, those students didn't ask for firing him.
 
The whole saga could have been handled better.
 
It was an administrative decision.
 
I remember one of our profs had to teach an arcane course on sample survey. The whole course was excruciating. Some of them complained. The prof only had to sit with the head and matter was closed with lenient grading in exams.
The politics has intensified indeed.
