@Martin-マーチン SOXv2.2.30DEV works, at least for me.

5:19 AM
@Zhe True :(
@CowperKettle Bu...but...you have my dear comrade! You speak English better than @M.A.R. most people I know O:)

@Mart Wanna give this a look, and consider reopening it?
:: chemistry.stackexchange.com/questions/99664/… (reopened; message edited by Martin)

You need one more vote

@GaurangTandon I'll have another look later, but currently it seems still not working. Are you using chrome or something different?

8:46 AM
@AvnishKabaj Thanks O:)
(I'm assuming you're the one who cast the 4th vote)

@paracetamol done

This is why I love @Mart <3
Thanks :-)

9:22 AM
Hi. I'm looking for the size of the coffein molecule but can't find it online since I'm a chemistry noob. I guess I just need the right term to Google.

@ThomasWeller Define "size" ;-)
(I assume you mean "caffeine")

For me, putting it into a rectangular box is enough
Sure, caffeine is certainly the better choice :-)

@ThomasWeller I'm not sure I quite get you :P
Maybe some context would help? O:)

If I put it into the smallest possible cube, what's the size of that cube?

Ah...
Lemme see what I can dig up

9:27 AM
I'm glad I didn't ask an official question...

In the way, you're asking it here, it'd prolly be closed XD
But if you tweak it to "Where can I look up the dimensions/bond lengths of organic molecules", it'll probably work O:)
Still searching

0.322 nm
Radius in water
Your cube would be
.644nm*.644nm*.644nm

@ThomasWeller It's actually not that simple... Molar volume: 133.4±7.0 cm³ (chemspider.com/Chemical-Structure.2424.html)

@AvnishKabaj: thanks
@Martin-マーチン: cm³ is definitely too much. I could not swallow that

Actually, a molar volume is more meaningful than a "molecular volume" (of sorts)...
@Mart Can you make something work with ChemBio draw?

9:42 AM
Oh, I see. It's the volume of 1 Mol, which is millions of molecules.
Phew. I just wanted a number :-)

@ThomasWeller That is the volume of one mole of the substance. You should divide by Avogadro's constant
@paracetamol don't know if they have a feature like that
@ThomasWeller what do you need it for? Does it have to be a quotable source?

@Martin-マーチン Neither do I (I don't have the software). Thanks though o/

No, it's just for some advertisement, nothing scientific

@ThomasWeller no problem

9:49 AM
If I have a look at the 3D view in chemspider.com/Chemical-Structure.2424.html, it looks quite flat.
Perhaps a .322 nm radius, but much less in height

@paracetamol couldn't find anything like it

The Avogadro freeware avogadro.cc has a caffeine molecule

@ThomasWeller yeah, it's quite a standard molecule... nothing special. The problem lies in defining where a molecule 'ends'

1 hour later…
11:19 AM
@Martin-マーチン I'm using Chrome latest

1 hour later…
12:45 PM
@GaurangTandon strange... on tampermonkey it says 2.2.1DEV last update 38d ago, but when i click update it says 'no update available' what do i have to do?

1:01 PM
@Martin-マーチン Welp. Thanks for checking it out though! :D

2:01 PM
@EnderLook In general, yes, if you're talking about flammability/ignition from a safety perspective.
In other contexts (air/fuel mix for internal combustion engines, arbitrary chemistry experiments, etc.) it might be more complex.
@gateprep @Gaurang Yeah, that should absolutely be written as an equilibrium reaction. Super-rapid equilibrium, too, both in gas- and aqueous-phase.

Waves at @Cowper and @hBy2Py

@paracetamol Hey-ho -- how are things?

It goes...
O:)
I see you've got a new display photo ;-)
All this time I've seen the red/maroon version, so it looks weird to me XD

2:17 PM
<nod>, it definitely looked odd to me at first, too.

<Boggle>
Meh, I'll get used to it :3

But, I wanted to make sort of a rebranding of my various online presences, and the green works better with that python/dragon thing
I like it better now, actually, especially now that I'm used to it.

I see, nice! :D
(Dragon thingy's not bad, but I miss the red python)
O:)

Change is rough. :-)

Speaking of change, your midterm elections are coming up >:-D

2:23 PM
<chuckle> It gonna be interesting, that.

Rubs hands in anticipation
Pity independent candidates aren't really a thing in the States :/

It would be interesting to see how things would be different if we had a more parliamentary/party-coalition-forming system.

It's always a brawl between dems and GOP

<nod>, apparently the more winner-take-all structure tends to squeeze out independent parties pretty dramatically.
At least, that's the explanation I've always heard.
With how dramatically divergent the political/worldview philosophies of the two major parties have become... it's pretty ugly, because large chunks of each side have no particular interest in actual debate.

@hBy2Py Trust me, you don't want a parliament XD
@hBy2Py Yep, makes sense

2:27 PM
Which, given that the disagreements are at the level of quite-fundamental premises, isn't all that unreasonable.
@paracetamol hehe

> because large chunks of each side have no particular interest in actual debate.
I'd +1,000,000 that
@hBy2Py Because in parliaments, ideas don't take off (but shoes and pens do)
@hBy2Py If I'm not mistaken, they aren't completely different in their world view (I dunno about domestic policies). Both dems and GOP think military intervention is the best way to solve problems :/ (So in the respect, I don't really see the difference between neo-cons and neo-libs)
^ A non-American's view of things O:)

@paracetamol We've not had skilled statesmen at the helm for a while, AFAICT.
The inclinations either tend to be overt, active military approaches
Or, no stick whatsoever... all conciliatory talk, and no attempts at tough negotiation, clever machinations, etc.

@hBy2Py I can tell XD (and you guys aren't alone)

@Martin-マーチン :')

2:35 PM
It's possible there's a lot more of that, that isn't visible to me as a regular citizen..but.
Lol

@Martin-マーチン That looks more like hBy2Cake

Yeah ^

yeah, it is... I didn't like the pie clipart

Makes one wonder whether Planck had a sweet tooth...

2:36 PM
@Mart Ooh ooh! Do one about me! \o/

Mart, I'm impressed at how good that looks with you not having access to my Powerpoint original.

@hBy2Py I think most Germans do :3
@hBy2Py Well, if military-industrial complex = clever machinations, then that's definitely there :3

@paracetamol Lol, no, that's clever machines

The bureaucracy of the military and its major suppliers is about as fouled up as most of the government, AFAIK.

2:39 PM
@paracetamol isn't your avatar some christian symbol?
@hBy2Py just don't enlarge ;)

@paracetamol What the heck did you just do?

@hBy2Py I was actually referring to the means via which they siphon public money for themselves, and not the actors/complex per se
@Martin-マーチン Yeah ._.
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ I shared my secret Blin-making recipe with Brian here O:)

@paracetamol Yeah, I'm not touching that ;)

No the other thing

Ah, for religious reasons, or for not wanting to offend anyone (or both)? :P
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ Ah, the other one's my kompot recipe..

2:42 PM
yeah... exactly... well, I am not religious ;)

@Martin-マーチン I thought chi-rho's were well-recognized in Western Europe..
@Martin-マーチン Ah...
Well, to each his own O:)

@Martin-マーチン sausage is a religion

Wait..
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ No, spaghetti is ._.
The Flying Spaghetti Monster (FSM) is the deity of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, or Pastafarianism. Pastafarianism (a portmanteau of pasta and Rastafarianism) is a social movement that promotes a light-hearted view of religion and opposes the teaching of intelligent design and creationism in public schools. According to adherents, Pastafarianism is a "real, legitimate religion, as much as any other". It is legally recognized as a religion in the Netherlands and New Zealand – where Pastafarian representatives are authorized to officiate weddings. However, in the United States, a federal...

That one isn't a religion

2:44 PM
It's just a mobile theme for atheists

crap... i was about to paste the same

XD
Beat you to it X3

there we go...

Well, at least you didn't take offence at the "to each his own" bit O:) (I only just remembered about Jedem das Seine after posting :/)
@Martin-マーチン That's so... blyatiful O:)
@hBy2Py Do you lean a) Left b) Right c) Prefer not to say >:-D

I lean upwards

2:48 PM

I like to lie down
2

@Martin-マーチン I'm so above you

I like to roll around ._.
^^^^ Merry Pastamas
July 24th, 2018. The day I killed chat ._.

meh. no-one can kill chat ;)

And to think I could make history :'(
Throws blins at @Mart
@Mart If you're ever bored give this a read: biologos.org
>:-D
Oops
O:)
Okay, now I've killed chat X3
Sets up giant stone phallic memorial in honor of The Periodic Table
Because I happened to have one lying around ._.

2 hours later…
4:52 PM
@Martin-マーチン that's odd... Goto the direct URL github.com/soscripted/sox/raw/dev/sox.user.js

5:04 PM
@GaurangTandon not too odd, the updateurl in the script you're fetching points to master: https://rawgit.com/soscripted/sox/master/sox.user.js
but i updated manually, still broken :(
i can't restart my pc now, because it forces the sync with the network profile and that takes ages...

Dramatic music as @Mart slowly reboots his PC
