@ABCD why would iupac interfere in the latex? Anyway, please give link to me to read more. I've honestly never read this iupac requirement to put unnecessary braces.

12:48 AM
*remove unnecessary braces

chemjax remains the same
@GaurangTandon In Atkins' book it is written.
@GaurangTandon do you have chemjax enabled?

1:08 AM
oh you meant changing the order
actually, we have so many occurrences of the latter on this site
i would not be comfortable changing the order suddenly
@Loong can you say something a few words on this? Which order of subscript is to be used? (it isn't given on the formatting wiki)

@GaurangTandon Fix the $\ce{MnO4^-}$ in this question

@MollyCooL fixed kthanxbye!

👍

1:23 AM
How do you rotate image by 90 degrees?
Or 180 degrees?

@AvnishKabaj does it, has an app I guess

@MollyCooL use Paint 3D, windows 10

Oh! Im on mobile. I thougt we have sth in this site to rotate.
@AvnishKabaj How were you able to suggest edit when already my edit was on queue? Or the opposite.

@MollyCooL sth for something, seriously? Took me a minute to figure out.

Lol. Yes, sorry :|

1:30 AM
@MollyCooL I must have had the edit tab open while you submitted it
I use CamScanner

@Abcd for all the crazy abbrevs Molly uses (like "wdym" :-O ), sth is a actually a standard abbrev that you'll find a lot in any dictionary like OED

:P

also "sb" for somebody

its not crazy! Wdym is common

@GaurangTandon that abbreviation makes no sense

1:32 AM
I don’t use sb lol never heard of it

I find them very annoying :P ...They are just an abrupt interruption while you are reading in a flow.

@MollyCooL that's the first time I saw someone using it, and I quickly understood it given the context, but probably wouldn't have otherwise :P
@AvnishKabaj ofc when did I say it does :P it's still in the OED though

What's OED

oxford english dict
the big printed one with 10000000 pages

1:34 AM
@GaurangTandon maybe you aren’t too familiar with chat abbreviations;)

@MollyCooL yup, am not, indeed :P

Okay now that avnish has edited it how do I delete mine!? Before someone rejects

i guess you will have to wait to get rejected :(

@MollyCooL BWhahahahhahah!

:((

Which software did you use to make this image? looks very nice! @M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ — Gaurang Tandon 4 hours ago
@Gau I have absolutely no idea
Huh, probably just good ol LaTeX

you can't forgot how to make such a nice image :(

@GaurangTandon I can't even see it now

9:00 AM
What are the limitations of using hydrogen as fuel?

9:20 AM
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ oh, imgur is blocked i guess :/

Q: Hydrogen as a fuel really worth it?

user7063Is hydrogen good to be used in cars? How much of traveling can a car do with medium sized balloon filled with hydrogen? Is it worth it?

Excuse me can we store hydrogen as water?
It can be separated in the vehicle by electro dialysis

Hi! I've asked a question but has been closed some time ago, I hope some of you guys can give me a fast anwer! If I connect thorugh a conducting wire a piece of zinc and a piece of copper will some electrons flow from zinc to copper since copper is more electronegative? Even if it happens just for a millisecond, will this happen?

1:22 PM
@Akash.B you'd need a damn lot of electricity though
So no
@GaurangTandon yep. I.stack.imgur didn't use to be, but it is right now

@GabrieleScarlatti well both are uncharged, and the circuit is incomplete; so no

@GaurangTandon pfft, since when has incomplete circuits stopped science?

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ well, even for potato circuits to work, they have to be complete first; laws of science > progress of science

Science is self defeating then
Long live astrology
@Mart congrats on the Steward
Goddamnit why are you still unpingable?

Is rep transfer through bounties legit
Like if the Q is
H2+Cl2
What is the product and the bounty is 500

whoever keeps flagging chemistry.stackexchange.com/questions/93578/… as homework, stop, it's obviously not homework
just looked, it's the usual suspects...
whatever

@pentavalentcarbon Who are the usual suspects?
Is that Top Secret classified information?

it might be in poor taste for me to name names, but they appear on basically every closed question on the site
no, it's not secret
though I guess you can't see it until you have access to the close vote queue at 3,000

@pentavalentcarbon I see what you did there

I did after the fact, that was not intended...
they don't participate in CVs, I don't think...just come in here to share their strange dreams

2:05 PM
Can we play 20 questions?

no
rightly so there, IMO

Well, I shouldn't say that, in part because I would have voted "leave open"
because I don't close "homework"
"homework" usually means "question I don't like"
though I might change my opinion again, dunno...

2:41 PM
@pentavalentcarbon yeah :(
@AvnishKabaj no

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ Damnit

@pentavalentcarbon leave a frigging comment then

@pentavalentcarbon "homework" to me means "zero effort by OP"; i guess that's also the intended by the meaning, right? :/
@pentavalentcarbon i have access to the close vote queue but I still can't see which user flagged a post as homework/etc. What else did you mean to say?

@GaurangTandon you have a lot to learn about the dark secrets of SE
For starters, look around the review page

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ i already do that and find everything ok. ?

2:48 PM
playing pro has never been so fun

everything's normal here - chemistry.stackexchange.com/review
:/

@GaurangTandon if you click on your action in the stats tab on any review queue, you'd get a link to the review itself
@GaurangTandon :¥

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ ...so what?
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ (this page - chemistry.stackexchange.com/review/close/history right?)

@GaurangTandon that's how penta knows who closed what as what
@GaurangTandon ayep

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ isn't that displayed anyway on the post timeline?

2:51 PM
Well yeah

But who has time to write URLs

much ado about nothing
hehe
fine, time for dinner
cya later!

Whoa, this guy has an early dinner

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ wait no

2:52 PM
It's probably broccoli

Penatvalent was talking about flags

With extra broccoli sauce

Pentavalent carbon was talking about flags

@AvnishKabaj well, he doesn't know the first VTCer
Well, VTCs have sometimes been equated to flags
AFK a bit

Q: Electrolysis of the given organic compound

sai saandeepWhat is the major product when the given organic compound is electrolysed? My try:- I got 2 cases but I am unable to decide which product is major. Please help.

3:11 PM
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ well, i'm certainly an hour or two ahead of your time zone ;)
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ i don't eat broccoli; and probably have never heard of "broccoli sauce". I only ever heard of "tomato sauce" ;) The other "indian sauces" are what are called "chutney" here, there's too many of them to keep track :)

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ all that complaining and I forgot
ok, done
Hi all, I don't think this should count as homework. Not only because it's unlikely to be asked as homework, but because the translation of quantum chemical calculations to simple force fields is highly desirable. — pentavalentcarbon 15 secs ago

3:35 PM
for some reason vandalism in the suggested edits queue is kind of funny

4:29 PM
@AvnishKabaj What is the dimerization of hexyne to "case"?!? and when did I say you did not cite a source? :/ (i'm going to sleep though, kthanxbye)

5:14 PM
if I do something stupid, just yell at me, I'm used to it

5:30 PM
@hBy2Py thanks!
I was wondering about pH in alcoholic solutions, does the way we regard pH change when you measure it in a non-aqueous solution?

5:56 PM
Is it that phantom $\ce{-N^{00}}$ ranks higher than phantom $\ce{-N^{000}}$ according to CIP?

6:10 PM
@pentavalentcarbon Yeah, the closure has fully gotten out of hand.

Hello everyone, just as you I am curious. I was wondering if is there any interest, in people from this sites, to work together in some problem. At least I am interested in comp chem.

Is this a meso compound?
I just can't spot any plane/ centre of symmetry...so according to me it shouldn't be meso.
Could someone please explain how the Bond interaction is good in the second case?

Is this even qualified as an answer: chemistry.stackexchange.com/a/89619/51553
Its more like a "copy-paste".

10:03 PM
@GaurangTandon that is my speciality
@Abcd sure it does. If you don't like it though, you can downvote it
@GaurangTandon still would have been early. I eat dinner at 23 30

29 mins ago, by Abcd
Its more like a "copy-paste".

@GaurangTandon neither have I, but there's a sauce for every damn thing

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ The answerer has just copy pasted stuff there..
its not even readable

@Abcd copy pasta without proper citation would be plagiarism and removable.
This had proper citation. More or less
Something that is an answer but is low quality in your opinion merits a downvote
In your opinion
One of my answers is literally just a copy paste
Shrug

Okay

10:08 PM
Okay to your okay

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ You don't write answers or ask questions anymore?

@Abcd I might, but certainly not on mobile
And the only thing I can access SE with is mobiles
So many mobiles

Oh, okay.

I'll stop procrastinating one day, and fix my laptop

10:38 PM

@AvnishKabaj I seriously feel this is an error in Solomon frhyle, isn't it? The HOMO is The lone pair of $\ce{O}$ but author tranferred electrons to LUMO of $\ce{H^+}$ from the pi bond...

@Mith come on man. What kind of logic is closing something because it won't get answers?
And actually, that's "it might not"

Q: Thermodynamics energy balance question help

distortion I made the following attempt to solve this question.However I don't know how to find final pressure.I don't know how to find final temperature for both sides.Can you give me a hint?

Halp. Not likely to get downvotes at all

11:47 PM
@AvnishKabaj Indeed its an error. I checked from clayden.
Why is there no "too broad" flag option?
Its not easy to find the correct flags on Chemistry.SE (please don't be offended, my personal experience).
