@xce It's not censored, it's just the wrong kind of answer. Sure, Skype is not open source, but that's completely irrelevant. The question is: do they tap calls or not? What are the facts? Either they do it or they dont....

OddthinkingHow strict should we be about references? When someone makes a claim, should we require them to support that claim with a source? If so, to what extent should we go? Must all claims be referenced or just some?

I didn't cite the claim that microsoft didn't say whether it did or not but I can add that. I don't think I need a citation about having to reverse engineer

can open source programs wiretap you? of course! can close source programs wiretap you? of course! the license has no bearing on whether they wiretap you or not
it may conceal stuff, but it doesn't change the capabilities

I wrote that you need to have someone you trust audit the code
and you can't do that without reverse engineering proprietary software

it can be studied, and wiretap hooks can come out
one can steal a car even if it's illegal
therefore, cars are locked ;-)
