Q: What Is Up With Voting in "Workplace"?

Julie in AustinI'm on a number of forums and I have to say that Workplace has the most insane voting patterns of all the forums. I'm all for some downvoting when needed, but I see a lot of questions with heaving downvotes, and a lot of good answers -- maybe not "the answer" answers -- with heavy downvotes.

Q: What does "Serial Voting Was Reversed" mean?

Joe StrazzereI see the message "Serial voting was reversed" in the Recent achievements list. What does that mean?

@MisterPositive why's that?

Not sure, but there are only so many questions to answer. :-)
@avazula Are you counting the minutes until the election is over?

@MisterPositive ha right haha

@avazula I think you have a legit shot, FWIW

@MisterPositive That's nice of you to say. I'm the oldest one around haha, and I do feel I have some kind of legitimacy (otherwise I'd not have run) but still, sometimes it feels like a popularity contest and it reminds me of bad junior school times.

@avazula the last election here, was pretty much drama free. The one before that was as you described, a big high school fiasco.

12:20 PM
@MisterPositive :/ I liked that latest TWP election. Except from some unexpected nominations, I think it went quite smoothly.

@avazula Agreed. I haven't seen or heard of any drama regarding the IPS election either.

@MisterPositive Well, it's going mostly well :)
It's just the opportunity for users to express their disagreement with the stack's policy and it's not always easy to say why you think we shouldn't change those rules

@avazula Yep, the question answer part was the most difficult thing about the process.

@avazula I may not be the best person to judge, as I don't know IP well enough, and don't really know the other candidates, but from what you said several times in this chat, you seem to really like the community and want to really be involved. You won't have my vote as I didn't have enough rep points neither the knowledge of IP to do so, but people like you deserve to be moderators

@Kepotx Aaw, thank you. That's really nice of you to say.
We do have great candidates tbh. I'm sure all would do a great job.
Funny enough is that at the beginning (like, until the very last day for nominating), all candidates were autistic people, which may seem counterintuitive on a communication think tank haha

12:36 PM
Not sure it really is. I am not on the autistic spectrum (or at least never been diagnosed as it) but I'm socially awkward, and IP help me to understand my surrounding folks and how to behave with them. active user and passive user may not be the same, but if we have a lot of autistic people amongst passive user, we can expect to find them amongst the active ones

As a whole I've heard that SE has quite a significant number of people on the spectrum

I guess this explains why IPS is leaning toward "back it up" and citations for answers.

I've heard that there are quite a lot in STEM, which is the core of SE

12:51 PM
@Snow probably. "Common sense" is something we do not get ;)

I first knew SO, and only after discovered the other SE communities

most people did the same

Common sense is not so common.

amen
