@kukis if you go to your profile and click on the "Activity" tab there's a box in the top right of the page headed "Impact" in that there should be a line which says "x helpful flags" click that and you'll see which of your flags have been accepted/rejected. There's no more feedback than that unfortunately but then as @Snow said our mods are volunteers and their time is limited.

I would suggest that if this case happened under EU jurisdiction it could be considered criminal. Even if computers are owned by the company/institution, work emails are private and can be examined only under a criminal investigation by public officers. In Europe there are severe restrictions on how the employer can get access to data stored in individual computers or mailboxes — usr-local-ΕΨΗΕΛΩΝ 46 mins ago
^ holy crap that's some uninformed pub-lawyer bollocks

@motosubatsu oh yeah, that guy contradicts me all the time... I wish I was as intelligent as he thinks he is.

Making myself finish 1 book each month.

Try "Wizard's first rule" by Terry Goodkind. The hero's name is Richard, but that's not the only good reason to read it.

4:10 PM
Hi Everyone. I wanted to ask a question, but was wondering if it would even be a good question for this site
My Question is Listening to ASMR: Not safe for work?
It's about listening to ASMR while working, and would it be considered unprofessional

@Malky.Kid it would help if you let us know what ASMR is

as personally, I find it relaxing and it gives me focus
oh right, here

I assume you mean listening to tracks to induce ASMR?

Autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR) is an experience characterized by a static-like or tingling sensation on the skin that typically begins on the scalp and moves down the back of the neck and upper spine. It has been compared with auditory-tactile synesthesia and may overlap with frisson. ASMR signifies the subjective experience of "low-grade euphoria" characterized by "a combination of positive feelings and a distinct static-like tingling sensation on the skin". It is most commonly triggered by specific auditory or visual stimuli, and less commonly by intentional attention control. ...

ASMR = A Silly Monkey Recital?

4:13 PM
it's basically videos of people tapping, whispering, etc
to induce a tingly sound at the back of your head

@Malky.Kid I have synesthesia. I have no idea why anyone would want to induce it, but if it could affect others around you, then yes.

tingling sensation* not sound, sorry

I'd say there's no issue - essentially it's just the same as listening to music, if it's not hindering you in your duties and you are allowed to listen to music (and access your preferred platform for streaming it or whatever) then I wouldn't even consider it worth mentioning

that's true, but what if a coworker found out?
is this something that you would report to hr if you guys found out?
but yeah, I guess the trick here is to not let others find out about it..

@Malky.Kid if it's not affecting anyone else, and your performance isn't suffering, I wouldn't bother. I've got more important things to do. If I were the manager, and someone reported it to me, I'd ask them why they had enough free time.

4:20 PM
@Malky.Kid not at all.. and tbf I'm not sure why anyone would.
FWIW I'm currently at work listening to episodes of My Favorite Murder

I see, thanks guys. Yeah I'll just treat it as if I'm listening to music, no big deal.

@motosubatsu some of them could range from simple tapping on the mike to making chewing sounds and breathing. I guess I'm just afraid of being accused of NSFW material

@Malky.Kid there's nothing sexual or offensive about it
at the end of the day it's no different to listening to ocean sounds or rainforest noises etc
@RichardU aww bless.. someone's trying to 'splain my own country to me:
@motosubatsu - in contrast, contracts we've done in the UK have been the most aggressive, seat of your pants, stuff around. It's the country that invented colonialism, Virgin, market manipulation, currency manipulation, trading, contango days, etc. Shit goes down fast. Yes, there's a sense in which UK software companies are more sleepy that the cliché of US startups. Anyways. — Fattie 5 mins ago

@motosubatsu he just tries to get reactions.

4:42 PM
@RichardU I know.. maybe one day I'll learn to just not engage with him
it just pisses me off that he spouts such dangerous bullshit

@motosubatsu Word of wisdom for the grandmaster troll. That's just obvious bait. Just calmly correct the erroneous info without getting emotionally involved.

@RichardU yeah

Back in my evil days, I once trolled a board, hard, by pretending to be a European pretending to be an American trolling Europeans. He may well be someone doing something similar.
In any event, he's just going for the reaction. I've noticed the less reaction you give him, the better advice he gives.

he actually posted a good solid answer earlier (different question)

@motosubatsu exactly. He wants attention. Let's reinforce the GOOD and ignore the bad. Set up a feedback loop that way

4:56 PM
@RichardU But there is so little good coming out of him.

@motosubatsu that gives us plenty to ignore then. He's very intelligent, but he's trying to be a combination of Kilisi and myself, from what I can tell.

@IDrinkandIKnowThings IMHO isn't not even as simple as his "advice" being "just" bad - it's often bad enough to be actively harmful

@IDrinkandIKnowThings sorry, that was for you.
@motosubatsu yes much of it comes down to NOT EVEN WRONG and that should be perhaps flagged.

@motosubatsu I am with you man. I look forward to the day he gets his semi-permanent ban

@IDrinkandIKnowThings nah, he hasn't perturbed the powers that be, like certain other users have....

5:09 PM
@RichardU Just because you do not see the interactions between him and mods does not mean there is none. Our mod crew is pretty good about keeping that sort of thing out of the headlines.

@IDrinkandIKnowThings I know more than I let on.
Let's just say that the events of the past year revealed a few things to me, and that my trust level is hovering around zero

5:53 PM
@Nofel ready for your review.

6:32 PM
Nice edit

@IDrinkandIKnowThings I'm pretty good at figuring out intent. Too many questions get closed that could be saved with an edit. I'm trying to step in whenever I can
