@VarunAgrawal Well, you are, of course, free to lead your life as you choose to. If I am offered a higher salary for a job, I will just take it. If it is higher than my expectation, I can always figure out later what to do with the additional money. Until then, it can safely lie around in my salary account.

@VarunAgrawal Either way they are idiots who don't know what they are doing. Why would they fire you? Let's see ... because 1. They asked you for a "range" 2. You gave them a "range" 3. The "range" was more than what they were willing to offer 4. They went ahead anyway with accepting your "range" and made you an offer. and 5. Oops, too bad, your work is not on par with the "range". Yeah, that sounds like the kind of reason a clueless moron would use to fire people.
