@Lilienthal without knowing their locale and the laws of their locale, we cannot conclude that what they are contemplating is illegal. It's also possible the terms "shareholders" and "dividends" aren't good translations of the terms that were really intended. We do know that it isn't the US.
@AndreiROM I'm a "manager type". Or at least I was until recently.

My answer to that "overboard email signature" question was a joke answer. I was hoping to get a "peer pressure" badge out of it. But looks like only one person got the joke.

Q: Who is liable when a product, made with an open source library, fails?

Jacob HThis may be off topic for this forum, so please let me now where to post and I will gladly delete and move. May question is a simple one. Imagine that Company A makes a product using libraries within the R programming language and sells it to Company B. What happens if this library is changed ...

@Dawny33 The question is now deleted, but nonetheless, it sounds more like a legal question.

@MaskedMan Yeah, that guy also thanked me for the downvote :P

Sad that she lost her job :(
16:08
@Dawny33 What did she expect? She's calling out her company and specifically the CEO because she's working a job that cannot support her lifestyle and thinks that it's the company's fault.
Don't live above your means and don't expect free handouts. That's about the one thing republicans and I can agree on.
This guy sums it up quite well.
I mean don't get me wrong, the US has horrible problems when it comes to minimum wage and affordable living, but that's hardly a secret.

@Lilienthal Didn't see the comment. Yeah, nicely written :)
Pff, we got 2 similarly entitled/misguided questions on the front page.
Damn, been a long time since I answered on WP :(

All these investor meeting and hiring....

btw, I happened to meet a guy who tried to impress me in the interview by mentioning one of my research papers.
I'm not really proud abt it, but I literally destroyed that poor guy!

@Dawny33 That's not what literally means.

@Lilienthal Literally now means figuratively I think, lol
@Dawny33 Read through the entire post. Voting to close as "real questions have answers". :p
But seriously, does she realize how immature she comes across, constantly complaining like that? If she cannot pay her bills, how is that the CEO's fault? I just can't stand such people who assume that the world owes them everything.
@MaskedMan I hate reading articles like that which basically say "I deserve a standard of living and I'm not getting it! :( "
how about you DONT WORK IN San Francisco FOR ONLY $20,000 A YEAR
Exactly, if your job doesn't pay enough, get a better paying one, or cut down your expenses.
She is working at minimum wage in that area I guess? minimum wage in SF is $12.25/hour
@Lilienthal I literally hope he did not literally destroy the poor guy. ;-)
The only problem I see in her story is her attitude. Apparently, she decided to be generous enough to tolerate those stupid customers for a year before she could move to posting funny tweets about food. How nice of her.

I don't know too many workplaces that let an entry level employee move to another department after a year. At my current company, even a somewhat senior guy like me has to wait at least two years to move to another department.
22:33
her problem is math. you don't work a job that is going to pay you $1400 a month and then live in a $1250 apartment, have a car payment, a cell phone... all this other crap she wants
and seriously she is so out of touch considering she gets free benefits/food and still makes decent money - there are a lot of people who would love to have that "problem"
