Why would a new user have to suggest edits on his own answer?
Huh, apparently they're two different users:
3 1
@mods: should probably be merged I'm guessing?

@Lilienthal It is the result of SE's feature of allowing use as "unregistered" users, and happens quite often on SE. Although it is a bit unintuitive for new users, I still prefer this design choice, as against Quora, where you cannot read anything without creating an account, and you cannot create an account without Quora puking in your face for a while.
I think Quora even mentions somewhere that to read the content there, you are also "expected" to contribute, whereas SE explicitly says that if you just want to learn here without contributing anything, we are totally fine with it. Two completely opposite philosophies, and also one of the many reason why I hate Quora.

@MaskedMan Yeah I just found it a bit odd that you get to do all the username and avatar customising without registering and then can't reclaim that post later.

Yeah, I guess what could be done is when you try to register, SE checks if the email address has been previously used to post as "unregistered" user, and ask if you want to claim that account.

Bless Peter for feeling the need to provide sources for his copy edit... :)

@Lilienthal I think it'll auto merge them eventually
@Lilienthal hah! I've never noticed that before, but I don't think I normally look at the reasons for edit suggestions >.>
