Q: Are moderators responding to flags?

Jim G.I've flagged several questions, answers, and comments. Some of these have been subsequently closed, deleted, or amended; but I don't see any response to my flags. Are moderators responding to flags?

^^^ @Shog9: Any thoughts on this? Do moderators actively review flags? [Feel free to review my flagging history.]

Q: Allow recovery from flag hellban

JimCurrently, users can get stuck in a permanent flag hellban from which there is no recovery. I've asked around before and it doesn't look like recovery is possible. To recover, you'd need to gain flag weight, and to gain flag weight you need someone to handle your flags. Since your flags now g...

How many declined flags do you have @JimG.?

this question is essentially a poll question, and overly vague/broad. However, in interest of helping OP I've provided an answer. — acolyte 6 mins ago

That expalins alot. I bet I got hell banned over workplace.stackexchange.com/questions/450/…
I flagged a ton of non answers that all got declined and havent had a flag reviewed since

@Chad it certainly does look like your name was the user who flagged that comment in @Jim's post ;)

I flagged 3 answers that got deleted but the flags were declined anyway
At least I know better than to waste time flagging things anymore
That question pissed me off because the OP didnt ask how do i take away flex time or force people to be here for specific hours. It was what can i do to to change the culture of come in when ever I want to everyone be here when we need them here.

I flag a ton of comments

when a community gives up all pretenses of addressing valid questions I wonder if we can start a pool for its death day :p

@Chad Take a look at the answer to my meta post that gnat linked
a change is coming that looks like it will allow us to see your flags again

is there any way that this is not a legal question:

Q: Can a salaried employee have their pay docked by the hour?

TurkeyFriedI work in an IT department in a company where most employees are paid by the hour. I am part of a small number of salaried employees. In recent months, I've had to take some time off for health reasons. Normally I get docked a day's pay for every day I miss. I've confirmed with my manager and I ...

Jim
Also, do your more recent flags show up to you as declined or just unanswered?

@Jim I did thanks it explained alot
@Jim Just unanswered

Jim
Ok, that's how I see them in your history

so you do see them?
you just cant address them?

Jim
3:39 PM
only in your history, directly on the post, and in the queue IF there are other flags on the post
correct

@YannisRizos politics feels like a trap and minefield

Jim
can't mark as helpful or decline
I thought that since they show up in the queue when other flags are on the post, the bulk dismissal would apply to them as well, but it doesnt

lol had I known about the status I may have not decided to flag over and over the bad answers :p

Jim
I first noticed on a post where your flag never got answered despite the question closing; didn't know the ban even existed until I asked about it on Meta
looks like it is going away though!
which is good, since we have a couple users who's flags don't show up in the queue

@enderland Check Meta Politics. Apparently I'm leading a cabal of Americans (?!) trying to bring down Iran and I'm a horribly biased liberal. Good stuff.

3:45 PM
lmao I bet you get quite the interesting meta discussions on politics :)

Q: What is so offensive about the question, "Why do Democrats want to deny women the right to defend themselves from college rapists?"

user1873This question was deleted, with no notice as to why. It seemed perfectly reasonable. Democrats in Colorado want women with Concealed Carry permits to leave their guns off campus. This makes them more vulnerable to attacks from a bigger stronger rapist. http://www.cnn.com/2013/02/20/justice/color...

Or maybe the one by the antisemtic iranian that wants to point out that americans are blood thirsty murders who do not care?
and then gets mad about his downvotes

do we have a tag for "Salaried" pay type?

we have salary tag

@Chad epic loaded question
"When did you stop slapping your workers?"

@Chad that's a ton different though depending on how you are paid?
its tag synomonys are also different

3:51 PM
@enderland we did, but we merged it because people kept using it to mean "money"

@enderland That question is purely a legal one though unless I am wrong

and we effectively had no "hourly" questions

@BenBrocka not true, almost all contract questions are "hourly"

@enderland True, but no one had used it as a tag, and I can't think of any asking specifically about pay in an hourly sense

lol salary means basically "anything with money"
not the actual definition
meh

3:54 PM
any thing to do with compensation not money

4:10 PM
man. a domain name I wanted which was previously purchased is now owned by some company wanting $500 for it

@enderland I hate that crap

is there any way I can get around it? other than just getting @#%#@ed over?

I registered a domain with godaddy did not use it, so they took it and now want 1k to buy it back...

I assume I'm basically screwed if I want to buy that, even though someone else being lazy and not using it was the problem

No someone is squatting it. The only way I know of is if you own the trademark and can show that someone else is actively trying to profit off of your trademark.

4:21 PM
such an annoying problem for a domain I only marginally want (I have the .net version of the .com which is now being held hostage)

could always offer then $100 for it and see what they say

I'm thinking about it. Not sure I care that much
but having firstlast.com is nice :-)
parasitical businesses piss me off
that company serves NO other benefit than taking advantage of people - it provides zero benefit to society as a whole

@enderland I know lawyers suck

@YannisRizos It looks like @Shog9 is correct. I've been flag hellbanned since at least October.
@Chad It's no secret. @Chad and I have had our differences; but I'd never doubt his commitment to improving Workplace.SE. // The fact that he is flag hellbanned as well points to a serious flaw in the flag hellbanned algorithm.
Suffice it to say, I'm glad that it's being reworked.

@JimG. I deserved it. That said had I known it existed I would not have repeatedly flagged the HORRIBLE ANSWERS to the question

8:04 PM
lol. I wonder how many declines in a row you need to actually get put into that position

Jim
9:02 PM
@JimG. the apparent flaws is why I brought up my second meta question
it didn't seem right to me that the two of you couldn't flag things
@Chad
I know there's been plenty of disagreement between people on The Workplace, but you guys are some committed users
mods can't see everything, so regular users act as extra eyes for us via flags; having two fewer active users is...not good
@enderland deliberate understatement. play down the past disagreement, focus on the current good

9:43 PM
@enderland Declines >= Helpful flags +10
Comment flags count as half a flag
