Q: How to not let co-worker's incompetence affect my productivity

Val TheoHow can I not let a co-worker's incompetence and sloppy work ethic affect how I treat him? He's a generally very nice guy who can't seem to adequately learn our business nor our product to be productive, after having worked closely with him to train him for 18 months. He blows deadlines, doesn'...

How much trouble will I be in if I post an answer saying "Slap them"?

A: How can I approach career development with a boss who doesn't seem to support this?

Joe StrazzereHow can I develop my career when my direct manager does not seem to have any interest in helping me? Many of us don't depend on our direct managers when formulating and executing career plans. You can learn new skills on your own. Books, magazines, websites, forums, conferences, etc - all can p...

^^^ @Rachel - Do you think you could lend @Joe Strazzere an upvote here? People who are uncomfortable managing their own career development are unfairly targeting this gentleman who merely spoke the truth.

Q: New Users Guide

enderlandThis is a work in progress. Now that the FAQ has be changed as per this post, I think we need a guide on "how to ask a question / write an answer" section here. Also, I'm not sure how to best do a work in progress on these sites... I plan on reducing content from here to make it less TL;DR as ...

And I think something like this would be helpful, but in the interests of keeping it from becoming a monstrocity, I'm going to split it up into sections.

Hi Funnelcake, right now, in it's current form, this is a clear, objective question. You've now put your best foot forward for all the future visitors who will see this post for years to come. The previous version might have made others think maybe the problem might be you, which I'm sure you don't want to happen. In this form, you've not brought yourself down to the level of your coworker. Hope this helps! :) — jmort253 45 mins ago

Q: Should I confront my colleague?

RichardRecent 2 of my colleagues (one is a guy, one is a girl) in my team (which consists of 7-8 people) and I had a few disagreements regarding various work issues. But those 2 have taken it to a personal level, and have been bad mouthing me (which mostly criticizes my personal side, and not anything t...

This is ridiculously localized, not even an attempt to make it so it applies to other people

@enderland I'm sure you saw version 1. I thought I recall seeing the words dickhead and jerk in there, so at least he's using grown up words now. Maybe it's still not the best question, but it was definitely worse before.

^^^@Paddy3118: Thanks for this one. I needed a good laugh today after a very turbulent week. Incidentally, the advice was good too, even if the language was a little bit salty. ;)
