@BESW This is really trippy.
Has anyone ever seen this?

Yeah, almost all the Doctor actors are still active in the franchise. Most of them have recorded or are recording for audio stories, and the Five(ish) Doctors Reboot was a hilarious collaboration by an unprecedented number of actors from Old and New.

Q: In Doctor who: Hell Bent, how is the Earth still intact/normal?

IvanIt is shown that the universe is at the end of its life. Clara drops off the doctor on Earth(I assume it is earth since it looks like Earth and there's a dude waking the doctor) How can the Earth still exist at the end of the universe? Or even have the same livable atmosphere? Don't planets ha...

Q: In Doctor who: Hell Bent, why bother with trying not to fracture time?

IvanFrom what I understand, saving Clara equals changing the past which means fracturing time. I assume the time lords are now hunting for Clara so that she can be returned to the extraction chamber to die. But isnt it already the end of the universe? How much time do the time lords save if they ret...

Oh, for... what part of "Time and Relative Dimensions in Space" are people having trouble with?

The first word, apparently.

@BESW You mean Totally and Radically Driving in Space, right?

@BESW LOL. Dalek is Warrior Princess.

Q: Can you transport inside of a portkey?

childcat15Inspired by some fan art, I was considering how possible it is to create a TARDIS using Harry Potter magic. Time travel seems to be nearly impossible, (Time-Turners are extremely limited in use, and only seem to let you go backward), but just about everything else seems doable. Step 1: Find a b...

@DrRDizzle I expect this to be both highly entertaining and slightly unnerving (since I'm in the middle of Jessica Jones where Tennant plays the super evil guy)

8:55 PM
you know what really surprises me about watching super ancient Doctor Who
it feels exactly the same as the current show, just different actors and even lower budget
even the famous music and sound effects were the same this far back

9:18 PM
I find it adorable that they're using one of those kiddie toys with magnetic objects you slide around as the control panel for super-science

@Ixrec I love that prop.
We're 12 days away from THE ENTIRE SYLVESTER McCOY ERA being in the FIRST HALF of Doctor Who. Let that sink in.

it looks like a bunch of enzymes eating protein molecules
I'm in part 10 now btw, I've been really enjoying these last few episodes

War Games starts a little slow, but oh man the last few episodes hop.

@BESW I think you could make something similar look legitimately cool with more modern technology, probably just needs a bunch of flashing lights underneath the things you move around

Or just arrange the magnets in a less jumbly way.

lol
oooooh, that's why the Third Doctor's stuck on Earth
well that was pretty damn good

11:24 PM
I'm glad you enjoyed it.
(The very first instance of Time Lord society on screen and their reputation as universally self-centred jerkfaces is established.)

that's pretty much exactly what Nash said
and why I watched it
definitely enjoyed this one more than Earthshock, I'm assuming that one has much more impact for someone following the show or watching more of it

Honestly I wasn't as fond of Earthshock either.

I'll probably go for Tomb of the Cybermen next since that's the other one I keep hearing people recommend for Troughton

I'd recommend The Abominable Snowmen, if it weren't entirely reconstructed.

reconstructed as in audio with narration, or as in one of those questionable animated versions?

11:28 PM
Audio with narration and still images.

I think I'll add it to my list anyway, it feels like my classic doctor who experience would be incomplete if I don't check out at least one of the missing episodes
though I'll probably save it until I've watched more complete episodes

(I watched it after the sequel, Web of Fear, was almost entirely rediscovered and I enjoyed that. Then I used both as fodder for RPG horror adventures.)

and for the record I will actually buy some of these, once I've worked out which ones I like
(I concluded it was not economically feasible in the case of Old Who to try any strategy which involved paying before watching)

For missing stories, you might also try Power of the Daleks. It's considered one of the best Dalek stories ever, and was somewhat inspirational for that one where Churchill tried to use Daleks against the Nazis. But less silly.
But yes, Tomb is great. It was missing for quite some time, and then rediscovered pretty much intact.

where did they even find it?

11:35 PM
Hong Kong.

that is not what I was expecting

Most missing episodes come out of Asia and Africa.
These days --barring someone finding something in their attic that their granddad stole instead of burning-- any missing episodes are almost guaranteed to come out of a handful of African stations.

I guess that makes sense in retrospect, anything in Britain is bound to have been scoured by now

It's also a matter of record-keeping.
In places where records are preserved, we know if the tapes they were sent got destroyed or not.
But in parts of Africa that have experienced a lot of turmoil, it's no longer certain what happened to the tapes.
They're more likely to have been moved, or abandoned, or misplaced.

is it just me or is the companion in Twin Dilemma being suspiciously critical of the 6th Doctor, it's almost as if she expects him to suck

11:43 PM
Given that he just strangled her, I think she's got reasonable doubt.

oh, right, that

Also the costume. And the ego.
...and if she's seen the script, she knows the story won't help.
