@StoneyB I'd like to nominate you! But would you be up for it? I'm afraid I wouldn't want the job myself. I'd also like to nominate snailboat (and probably several others), but either candidates are supposed to nominate themselves, or we need to use this chatroom to sound out potential nominees.

The election page says there are three positions open. Do we currently have any moderators?

@FumbleFingers You're gracious; but I'd be a terrible mod. When I'm irresponsible I'm merely arrogant; when I'm responsible I'm arrogant AND crabby. How 'bout you? ... I'd back you; but you seem horribly busy between here and ELU.

@DCShannon We have four, but waiwai was a stopgap, and WendiKidd and Matt are less present than they used to be. J.R. of course is everywhere.

I think you're a mod for life, though, so the new guys would be on top of those.

@StoneyB Not for graduation mods... The slate gets wiped clean... J.R. has to run and the other three will be removed from the Mod list (unless they come back, run and win a slot again).

@Catija JR's been an outstanding mod; I hope he stands, although "He loves him not / That would upon the rack of this rough world / Stretch him out longer".

@StoneyB I agree. I'm not saying that to state that I don't think JR's great at his position. Merely pointing out that he still has to run and get the votes to win. For example, on M&TV, there were two or three mods who were inactive and one mod who stayed... just like here... after the graduation elections, the existing mod won re-election and the two others were removed from the moderator list. Now there's only three mods... the original mod and two new ones.

We'll have to see who wants it. It's gonna be rough; there are at least 20 people around I'd vote for, Grognards and Establishment and Young Turks. I hope we get some NNS standing; there really needs to be a Voice of the Audience.
