@ryan Thanks for letting us know about both posts. In the future, feel free to flag it for moderator attention if you have an encounter that felt a bit rude or inappropriate, or if you see something that's not right.

For the latter case, we do allow people to delete their posts, as long as there haven't been any useful answers. As a general principle, from my own personal experience, I think that's an important protection (even if sometimes it is used for purposes that don't feel great), because it lets us wipe the slate clean if we later discover that our post was ill-advised or poorly thought through. In my opinion, the freedom to delete makes it safer to post.

But I take your broader point about the interactions you've had. Thanks for letting us know. In the future, feel free to flag stuff. I don't always monitor this chatroom (and public conversation isn't always the best place to handle some situations). We do act on cases of disrespectful behavior, though we usually don't talk about it publicly.

@D.W. That's fair. It didn't seem so bad that it needed to be flagged. If it had gone further then maybe, but it just felt like "this really shouldn't be how you go about asking a question". I'll just flag it next time if it's something of concern.
