@RomainB. like the problem myself :) it has many elements in your list... what country are you in? it would help if you list some of your own interests

I love fractals like Julia and Collatz one. Some of my interests : a neural network predicting chaotic behavior \ Advance an unresolved conjecture (collatz) \ Take inspiration from nature to make algorithm (shortest path, clique, .. ).
I would love a exotic project, off the tracks, a link between 2 domains that we haven't thought earlier, like a chaotic behavior of some system that can be applied to real life, or fractal thing to counter neural network, I don't know, exotic things !

@RomainB. hi lets chat in here there is no problem & its low traffic. it might attract others. are you studying computer science? student prjs are not so common, its great to hear you have some deeper interests. honestly the best approach is to work with an advisor at your school but there are copious ideas floating in cyberspace too. have you done any other prjs? it might be most straightfwd to build on those. also suggest getting some great book(s) on related subjs & see what catches your eye.

Yes as I said I'm in 3rd year which is the last year in Bachelor, hence I got to do a "thesis" which is a project of 4 months or so. I discussed with nearly all my professors and we can't agree on a project that I enjoy. I went to the library, read all possible subjects about fluids, fractals, L-System etc.. I can't find any interesting questions that would not be too hard or not too easy
That's why I ask here for help :)
Some topics/questions I found interesting :
- Optimal space trajectory with gravity assist (minimize fuel and time)
- From a picture of a tree, generate a L-System that reproduces it
- Predict chaotic behavior with Neural Networks
- Use fractals to generate landscape and see if a Neural Network detects if it's real life or not
- Self-reinforcement chess AI
But I have so many questions.. I can't pick one and fully work on it, there are always other interesting ones. What I love too is applied maths, like the optimal dose of sport each day/week to have the maximum heart beat in our life (live longer) or some life-related equations. If you have anything, it can be really anything, submit it ;)

I hope some people could take interest in some problems I listed !

@RomainB. you already have excellent ideas & its only a matter of narrowing it down. again suggest you work on something youre already pursuing... can make suggestions if you narrow it down. this is one of my favorite refs from recent years, it is broad and possibly touches on many areas of your interest Turing omnibus/ Dewdney amazon.com/Turing-Omnibus-Excursions-Computer-Science/dp/…
oh here is the revised version. a bit stunned it came out in 1993. :o o_O amazon.com/New-Turing-Omnibus-Sixty-Six-Excursions/dp/…

I'll check it out, it looks like the book I needed all this time, thanks!

@vzn Do you have any topics ideas in mind ?

@RomainB. like number theory, fractals, deep learning, quantum computing, CS-physics connections, bitcoin, games, complexity theory etc. its "an embarrassment of riches" these days. much more in my blog let me know if you find something interesting :) vzn1.wordpress.com
