@Shog9 I think fgrieu is looking to create a sandbox type post, and or some way of learning how to use MathJax on crypto easily.

@mike we're adding cross-site tag sets in a day or two as well — Jeff Atwood Oct 21 '10 at 9:30
Did I miss something?

@Raphael I think that might be StackExchange.com's tag filters - the kinda global tag sets you can make
@Ninefingers Ah, I see. So nothing accessible from the individual sites.
@Raphael Nope, don't think so.
I have used that favorite tag feature to generate RSS feeds (as there are no subscription feeds per site).

@Raphael There are per tag - it's a bit unintuitive though; the feeds are at the bottom of the page. e.g. crypto.stackexchange.com/feeds/…
@Ninefingers Yea, I misremembered. Tag feeds are discovered fine by the browser, too. It's the favorite feed that's missing (edited above).
@Raphael Aah, ok. Yep. I don't use SE's favourites much, I bookmark/snippet things.
@Ninefingers It's useful to keep track of small parts of mostly uninteresting sites.
Anyway, I gave it another shot:

Q: Tag implications for easier broad subscriptions

RaphaelTag hierarchies have been requested many times and denied as often. There is one reason for not implementing them other than "Jeff does not want": hierarchies are usually a bad model for organising tags. Tags exist because category hierarchies failed! Nevertheless, a completely flat tag space ha...

Maybe this will be given more thought than tag hierarchies.

@awoodland did you mean me?
@awoodland I wasn't sure either
In principle, having a list of important questions is a good thing
the faq tab isn't the same thing: it's based on views and votes, not importance
that tends to emphasize easy trivia and posts linked from influential blogs
I can't speak for the pertinence of Somnath's list, but at worse it does no harm
20:07
@Gilles the list on that edit pretty much was the FAQ tab for that tag as far as I could make out
Wow, 3 questions on French today
makes up for 0 on Saturday and Sunday, but still, unusually high :(
I still read French quite a bit but I can't answer much and the only questions I've thought of lately are etymology which is basically either answered by wikipedia or speculation
