@beeshyams Unsure if it's you, but I am strongly against downvoting questions unless they're unanswerable (good example bad example). Particularly, questions closed as duplicate probably don't warrant downvotes. We need to be welcoming.

@iBug I share the same view and don't downvote such questions. Aside, I try to leave a reason for downvote especially on answers so that they may be improved. But yes, I did notice this for long and is practically ineffective IMO since rep can't be less than one and the be friendly factor

Downvoting dupes is also not fair to newcomers. Even seasoned folks (including me) end up sometimes answering, unaware that a dupe exists on site.
