A milestone paper on feedback amplifiers is R. D. Middlebrook, “Measurement of Loop Gain in Feedback Systems,” Int. J. Electronics, Vol. 38, no. 4, pp. 485-512, 1975.
It contains the following suggestion (emphasis mine): "[...] a wave analyzer such as one of the Hewlett-Packard 302A series is a very convenient instrument for use [...]".
I find it amusing the presence of such an endorsement, when usually nowadays people tend to put disclaimers everywhere saying that they don't endorse the equipment used.
