Hi, I have quick question about what is proper conduct on stackexchange and academia
Suppose I am interested in the answer to a question because it is linked to my current research, and I even put a bounty on the question to motivate people
Then I find the answer I am loooking for. Since I want to include it in a paper, should I post it on stackexchange ? will it be problematic later when I want to publish material that is already public ?
@LuxBellum please take a look at our help center. As a question and answer site we follow a different model than most online forums. If you have questions about how things work or how to improve a question, come to chat and ask nicely.
@Denis it depends on the field, where you are trying to publish, where it was publicly available, and the overlap.
@LuxBellum Also note that the links in the close reasons give you some guidance.
Admittedly, there is some room for improvement: @StrongBad: You wanted to change the link in the shopping close reason to the FAQ I made a while a go …
I'm attending a talk called "brilliance bias" where a psych professor will talk about work done in his lab that describes why women are less likely to join STEM fields -- and how early in life this develops.
I'm looking forward to it :)
@Wrzlprmft do you have a low opinion of the publication, Scientific American?
