Q: Breaking an axis - is it ever a good idea?

But for plots in academic publications, is it ever a good idea to break an axis so that patterns and outliers can be more easily seen? The question it supposedly "duplicates" asks about ways to not break an axis, not about situations when it's OK to break an axis
I'm not sure closing questions just because they have been asked (in a different way) on another SE site is a good idea, either. If they're off topic here, fine, close them, but I don't think on topic questions should be closed just because someone else asked them in a different way on another SE site.

Jim MackWe often see defenestrate used in a somewhat jocular, mock-intellectual way for throwing someone or something out of a window. Is there, or could we imagine, a similar word for "throwing (someone) under the bus?" Not as literal as 'sacrifice', but rather something more whimsical, in the same vein...
