I would suggest adding a comment that criticizes the joke and requests the original author remove it.

@AaronHall I think such edits are a good idea for posts including lots of superfluous material, but this post doesn't. I think at this point it becomes a matter of style, and if the OP chooses to remove it, great; if not, I don't think leaving it in makes the post any worse.
