Perhaps we could add something to user profiles indicating their area(s) of interest

I don't know if this is a good question. "Exploring opportunities of continuing after a PhD in non-salaried research position at the same university" juxtaposed with "immigration precedent for this since I am on an F1 visa". Should I post this as a question on the site proper or discuss this in chat? Or meta??
