@snailcar Does this statement sound a bit unnatural to you? - The obvious question here is how exactly the program determines employment opportunities.

@Cardinal Much obliged!

@AIQ It sounds okay.

@OldBrixtonian I used to think there was a penalty, but it's clearly stated comments are for helpful statements related to the question. Chatting through comments is discouraged. You'll find I deleted my comments. Which explains why I responded to you from the chat room.

A little discussion in comments isn't a really big deal, but the comment system isn't really designed for extended discussion. We do try to clean up comments when they're flagged by users (or automatically by the system, which does happen under some circumstances). In this case, I'm just going to zap the remaining comments, because one side of a conversation doesn't really make sense on its own.

There's generally no penalty for using comments for that sort of thing, but if it becomes a more serious problem sometimes we'll send out moderator messages asking users to change their pattern of behavior.

But at its core, SE is designed as a network of Q&A sites, and ideally we want any important information to be presented in either a question or its answers. Comments may not stick around forever, and they have some other problems. They can't be downvoted or edited if they contain misinformation, for example.

The biggest problem is people who are rude to each other in the comment section. That's no good, no matter whether they're right or wrong. A smaller problem is people posting answers in the comment section, which again is not ideal because the site isn't really designed for it . . . but it's still not the end of the world.

@snailcar So you could see how the conversation is not pertinent to the question.. thank you Snaily.
You took care of his side for him thank you
Taking the pie in the face having my native English corrected by another English native. LOL

Q: What's a word that has a meaning a 'new word for an old concept'?

joedavidWord2 is better known today as _____ . I used to be known as Word1 back in the day.

I know the word. But I don't want to answer outright because its doubtful there was an attempt to search for themselves?

@GWarner If you think that's a good reason not to post an answer, you can of course decide not to do that. If you feel like the question isn't high enough quality to be on the site and shouldn't be answered at all, you can vote to close as well.

I don't think it's a really great question. But if I were you, I might just post the answer and move on without overthinking it. After all, if you give them the benefit of the doubt, you might think something like:

> Hey, this might not be too easy for everyone to search for. Plus, if I answer this question here, other people can come in from Google and find the answer in the future, so when I post, I'll be actually helping people who try to search for the answer themselves in the future.

And you contribute to that Library of Knowledge thingy that SE is supposed to be building.

It's up to you, though.

> I am an old pure-finder, when folks say ’How d’ya do?’
Says I, ‘Well, I do doodoo and do do well don’t you?’
I do doodoo so well, when the doodoo I do sell,
But could do doodoo better if the doodoo didn’t smell
@Lambie I couldn't remember where I saw something with alliteration and do, but I remembered today, so here you go. It's from here.

ell.stackexchange.com/review/close/102823 I don't know if this is trolling or something profound, haha.
I think it's a good question, actually. The sentence at issue "sounds" like a question because of the way it's constructed and worded, outweighing intonation.
In this way the sentence lends itself to a dad-joke override.
@M.A.R. 👌👌👌

@snailcar These were my questions exactly. I am one to normally ignore the lack of an askers research, poorly constructed questions (unless this hinders a proper answer) to just get to the heart of the matter and not be sidelined by "parliamentary procedure". But also don't want to ignore the SE procedure. And I do overthink stuff.

I think we probably do a lot of overthinking here on SE.

@snailcar My viewpoint exactly, and the Knowledge Base (to borrow that term from Microsoft). Let the ones who like to, edit out the fluff, so the KB (knowledge base) is concise and clear..
the overthinking is why I deleted my SU specific account. I had a simple question on if and how to tweak a windows setting. and got roadblocked with " Why do you want to do that, why are there so many entries in the window.
that was 4 years ago... i came back recently looking for something.. iand found something i could answer easily.. answered it. got flamed about it.. so i deleted it and reframed the naswer. and got suspended for 2 wseeks.

Sounds like you more than reframed it.
Sounds like they really didn't like the new frame.
Something something defenestrated.
Ah, actually, a spin on threw the baby out with the bathwater.
Damn, the defenestration fits with the subject of Windows and all.

@userr2684291 Nailed that 'window' shut! OR was that a coffin? It was an old abandoned maybe "dead" account.
